The Los Angeles Chargers host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, and this is a very important game for each team. Dallas is trying to avoid its first 0-2 start since 2010, and the Chargers are hoping to keep pace in the loaded AL West Division.

The Dallas Cowboys racked up 463 yards of total offense in the Week 1 loss, and almost all of those came through the air. Quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 403 yards and three touchdowns in the season opener, but the Cowboys don’t want to fall into that strategy.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott is supposed to be one of the top runners in the NFL, but the Cowboys didn’t give him a chance in Week 1. Dallas is going to need to find some balance on offense if they want to pick up a win.

The defense in Dallas was also a mess in the season opener, especially against the pass. The Cowboys will now be facing another great offensive team, and that unit must step up.

Chargers Need to Defend

The Chargers have an offense that is going to be good enough in nearly every game this season, but the defense will be a key. Los Angeles held Washington to just 261 total yards of offense in Week 1, but they were also playing a team not known for offense.

Quarterback Justin Herbert just continues to put up huge stats for the Chargers, and he isn’t afraid to take deep shots. Herbert threw for 337 yards in the Week 1 win, and he is going to test the secondary of Dallas.

The Chargers still have some areas to improve on as the season moves along, but there is plenty to like about this team.

Cowboys Complete Upset

Both teams want to score the football, and that could make for a wildly entertaining game on Sunday afternoon. The Cowboys appear to have the more complete roster on paper, but they are still waiting to get everything clicking.

Los Angeles was sharp in the season opener against the Washington Football Team, but that defense is going to get tested in this one. There are still some real concerns with the defensive unit for the Chargers, and those will bite them on Sunday.

Justin Herbert (-215) Over 1.5 TD Passes

The Chargers were hoping they got a franchise QB in the tradition of Dan Fouts or Philip Rivers when they took Herbert in the first round last year. And so far, that looks to be exactly what LA got.

Through his first 16 games, Herbert has thrown for 4,673 yards and 32 TDs against only 11 INTs. He has thrown for over 300 yards nine times and has a TD pass in every start but one.

Last week’s performance of 337 passing yards and a TD was considered ordinary for the rising star. But he was facing a Washington defense that gave up the second fewest passing yards in the league last year. His numbers should look even better this week against a Cowboys defense that gave up 379 passing yards and 4 TDs to Tom Brady and the Bucs last week.

In the Chargers home opener, we’ll take Herbert (-215) to have plenty of success through the air and go over 1.5 TD passes.
