Cotton Bowl Betting Preview: Florida Gators vs. Oklahoma Sooners
29 December 2020

The Cotton Bowl is scheduled for Wednesday from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It will be the Florida Gators against the Oklahoma Sooners in what could be an offensive shootout.
Florida comes into this game with an overall record of 8-3, but the Gators have lost two straight contests. The Gators won the SEC East Division title this season but will be looking to bounce back in this game.
Oklahoma won the Big 12 Conference Championship this season after avenging a regular-season loss to the Iowa State Cyclones in the title game. The Sooners are 8-2 this season, and they will have some momentum entering this game.
The Florida Gators are 4.5-point favorites over the Oklahoma Sooners in the Cotton Bowl.
Offense Carrying Gators
The Gators are averaging 41.6 points per game this season, and their offense can put up points in a hurry. Florida is also allowing nearly 30 points per game, and it will have to take control of this one with its offense.
Quarterback Kyle Trask has thrown for 4,125 yards and 43 touchdowns and is one of four finalists for the Heisman Trophy. Trask has continued to improve during his time at Florida, and he will likely be a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Gators are only running for 120 yards per game, but their passing attack is the best in the country. Wide receiver Kadarius Toney leads the team with 984 receiving yards, and tight end Kyle Pitts is also having a huge season.
The defense will need to play well in this game, but the offense will lead the way.
Sooners Finding Some Defense
The Sooners are also scoring more than 41 points per game, but the defense has really turned things around for this team. The Sooners are allowing less than 22 points per game, and that’s impressive considering they compete in the Big 12.
Finding a way to get pressure on Trask will be a huge key for the Sooners, but they have plenty of talent on defense to get the job done.
The Sooners have much more balance on offense, throwing for 321 yards per game and also rushing for 154 yards. Quarterback Spencer Rattler has thrown for 2,784 yards, and he is also a threat to run the football.
Oklahoma wants to slow this game down, but it has plenty of offense themselves.
Florida Offense Just Too Much
Both of these teams have had some big offensive games this season, but Florida has been the much more explosive offense in the SEC. Trask has a real case to win the Heisman Trophy, and that passing attack will take over this game.
Oklahoma has bounced back after a slow start, but the Sooners are facing a tough matchup in this game. The Sooners will keep this game close, but they just won’t have enough offense to keep up.
Bet the Florida Gators -2.5 to beat the Oklahoma Sooners in the Cotton Bowl on Wednesday.
