Colorado comes into this game with an overall record of just 51-64, and much of that poor play has come on the road. The Rockies have been out of the playoff race in the NL West for months, and they are now just looking to play the spoiler role.
San Francisco has been the biggest story in baseball this season, and they are trying to finish the story off. The Giants have improved their record to 74-41, and they have opened up a five-game lead in the NL West Division.

Rockies Can’t Score on the Road
Colorado has won just 13 road games all season long, and a lack of offense away from Coors Field has become a major issue. The Rockies were shutout on Thursday night, and that is something that has happened way too often in 2021.
C.J. Cron leads the Rockies with 18 home runs and 60 RBIs, but much of that damage has been done in Denver. Colorado needs to put up a great offensive performance on Friday night if they want to win a game.
Austin Gomber is set to make the start for Colorado in this game, and he has gone 9-6 with a 3.79 ERA this season. Gomber looks like a future ace with the Rockies, but facing the Giants is a tough task.
San Francisco Getting Pitching
San Francisco has gotten great starting pitching all season long, and that was the case in the series opener. The Giants currently have a team ERA of just 3.32, and the Giants just don’t give up many runs.
Anthony DeSclafani is on the mound on Friday night, and he has been able to revive his career with the Giants. DeSclafani has pitched to an ERA of 3.28 while putting up a 10-5 record.
Brandon Crawford is having a solid year at the plate, leading the Giants with 19 home runs, 69 RBIs, and a .296 batting average. This Giants team has plenty of power in that lineup, and they can put up runs in a hurry.
Giants Roll Over Rockies
San Francisco dominated the series opener over Colorado on Thursday night, and it’s hard to see this game playing out any differently. The Giants are clearly the better team in this matchup, and these are games that they need to win to stay on top of the division.
Colorado can give some teams trouble when playing at Coors Field, but this team has been awful on the road. Don’t expect the Rockies to do much scoring in this game, and that will keep them from competing.

Anthony DeSclafani (-145) Over 5.5 Strikeouts
The Giants have had a number of pleasant surprises on their way to first place in the loaded NL West, but perhaps none as big as DeSclafani. After going 1-2 with a 7.22 ERA for the Reds in last year’s abbreviated season, the 31-year-old righthander has posted a 10-5 record with 3.28 ERA for the G-Men. The 10 wins marks a career high after topping out at 9 in three previous seasons.
He’ll be looking to build on that tonight against a Rockies team that he’s beaten twice already this season. In those two starts covering 15 innings, he didn’t allow an earned run while striking out 17 and holding Colorado to a .167 batting average.
As the race in the NL West heats up, we’ll take DeSclafani (-145) to have another dominant performance against the Rockies and go over 5.5 strikeouts.
