Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights Betting Preview/Prop Pick
16 February 2022

Two of the top teams in the NHL Western Conference are set to square off on Wednesday night as the Vegas Golden Knights host the Colorado Avalanche. There is a good chance that this could be a Western Conference playoff preview as both teams are title betting favorites.
Colorado comes into this game on an absolute tear, and they will be looking for their sixth straight road victory. The Avalanche come into this game with 72 points on the year, and they are in charge of the Western Conference.
Vegas has racked up 59 points on the year, and that is good enough to have them at the top of the Pacific Division. The Golden Knights had won three straight games before suffering a 6-0 loss to the Calgary Flames in their most recent game.
The Colorado Avalanche are the moneyline betting favorite at -115.
Colorado Cruising on Offense
The Avalanche have been completely overwhelming opponents all season long as they are averaging right at 4.0 goals per game. Colorado has scored on the power play 24 percent of their chances, but they can also score at even strength.
Nazem Kadri has come out of nowhere to be the best offensive player for the Avalanche as he leads the way with 42 assists and 62 points. Mikko Rantanen has scored 24 goals this season, which is the most on the team.
Darcy Kuemper has been terrific in net for the Avalanche this season as he comes into this game with a 23-5-2 record. Colorado wants to play fast, but Kuemper has been great at shutting down opponents as well.
Vegas Has to Defend
If Vegas is going to win this game and be a threat to Colorado in the postseason, then they are going to have to get some stops. The Golden Knights are scoring 3.3 goals per game this season, but they are also giving up right around three per game.
Robin Lehner was once a dominant presence in the blue paint for Vegas, but he hasn’t been as dominant this season. Lehner has allowed nearly 2.9 goals per game, and he is going to be in for a massive test against the mighty Avalanche.
Chandler Stephenson has been a great offensive performer for the Avalanche this season as he leads the way with 26 assists and 38 total points. Vegas has struggled a bit on the power play of late, but they have enough offense to win this game.
Golden Knights Win at Home
This is a game that should feature plenty of offense as both teams really like to play offense. Colorado has been the better defensive team this season, but they are going to struggle to slow down the Golden Knights on their home ice.
Both the Avalanche and Golden Knights are two of the best teams in the NHL, and it is always a battle when these teams take the ice. Don’t expect much separation on Wednesday night, but it will be the home team that is able to get the crucial goal late in the game.
Take the Vegas Golden Knights moneyline and the UNDER as they pick up an impressive win over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night.
Prop Pick
Colorado (+165) UNDER 2.5 Goals
Scores have gone UNDER in each of Colorado’s last five games. Scores have gone UNDER in three of Vegas’ last five games as an underdog.
With Dunkel predicting a Vegas win by the score of 2-1, take the Avalanche (+165) to finish UNDER their Vegas team total of 2.5 goals against the Golden Knights.
