Colorado Avalanche at Los Angeles Kings Betting Preview

08 April 2023 By Ryan Knuppel

The 2022-23 NHL season is starting to wind down, but there is still plenty that has to be decided over the next few days. The Los Angeles Kings host the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night, and this is a big game for a number of reasons.

Colorado comes into this game with 100 points on the year, and they are currently in a tie for first place in the Central Division. The Avalanche won the Stanley Cup a season ago, and they are trying to make another deep run this season.

Los Angeles comes into this game with 100 points on the year as well, and that’s good enough for third place in the Pacific Division. The Kings are going to make the playoffs, and they are just trying to remain healthy for what they hope will be a good run.

The Colorado Avalanche are the moneyline betting favorites at -126 in this showdown with the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night.

Avalanche Getting Some Stops

The Colorado Avalanche overwhelmed opponents with offense a season ago, but they are winning a different way this season. Colorado is holding teams to less than 2.75 goals per game, and that has allowed them to jump to the top of the Central Division.

That doesn’t mean that the Avalanche can’t score as well, and this team has really started to take off on the offensive end of the ice. Nathan MacKinnon has been playing great on offense of late, and he now leads the way with 67 assists and 104 total points.

The Avalanche have struggled to get some stops against Los Angeles this season, but they aren’t going to be facing a complete team in this one.

Kings Finding Offense

The Los Angeles Kings come into this game scoring 3.3 goals per game, but they are also allowing 3.1 goals per game. Los Angeles has been winning games with offense, but they are going to be without several stars in this matchup.

Kevin Fiala leads the way with 49 assists and 72 total points, but he is one of the players that will be sitting out in this one. Los Angeles has converted on the power play 25 percent of the time, but they are facing a good penalty kill in this game.

The Kings aren’t going to want to get into a high-scoring affair with the Avalanche in this game, and that could cause them to change up the way that they play.

Avalanche Roll to Dominant Win

The Kings have won the first two games of this season series, but look for the Avalanche to get some revenge in this game. Los Angeles just doesn’t have a ton of motivation to win this game, and they are also going to be missing some key players.

Colorado has a ton of offensive talent, and they are really finishing the year with a strong attack on both ends of the ice. The Avalanche want to win the Central Division title again this season, and they are going to have a big performance in this game.

Bet the Colorado Avalanche -1.5 as they are going to win this game by two goals over the Los Angeles Kings.
