Coca-Cola 600 2022 Betting Preview/Prop Pick

27 May 2022

NASCAR heats up with another pivotal event coming up soon for bettors. The next NASCAR Cup Series race is located in Concord, North Carolina, at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600.

A handful of betting favorites lead the way, with previous success being a good indicator. Below you can see which drivers make a case for this year’s race.

Race Details

Date: Sun, May 29, 6:00 PM
Watch on: FOX
Track: Charlotte Motor Speedway

Betting Overview

The race is 400 laps total, despite the name saying 600. Over the last ten years, this race has gone to overtime one time back in 2020.

Toyota brand cars have won the last four out of seven races. With some slight tweaks to the rules for the last two races under the pandemic, this could look like the recent races from 2015 to 2019.

Head to Head Matchup to Watch

Ryan Blaney (185.611) and Alex Bowman (187.665) are two compelling options to consider. For a head-to-head showdown, these two could surprise a lot of bettors.

Blaney is coming off of a victory at the All-Star race in Texas, while Bowman came in sixth at the same event. For the Cup Series standings, Blaney has an excellent opportunity to take over since he is in second and potentially move ahead of Chase Elliot.

Drivers That Could Win Coca-Cola 600

Austin Dillon (188.456) won this event back in 2017 and deserves some attention for his current value. He has had two consecutive top 10 finishes here, with a sixth-place finish last year.

Tyler Reddick (187.549) is worth a look, too, especially for his value on the market. He finished eighth and ninth place the previous two years here, as well as winning the Xfinity Series race back in 2019.

William Byron (188.156) is kind of a mixed bag here for results, but this is a track that he has typically performed well on. He finished fourth last year here and has a few wins this season. In addition, he won back in the spring race.

Potential Winning Pick

Kyle Busch (187.785) has been one of the better drivers in this race. He has six top 10 finishes out of the previous eight races in Charlotte and has looked dominant in leads for all of them.

He won this event back in 2018 and led the most laps that year. He should be able to hand around the top five and potentially take the victory lap.

Prop Pick

Head-To-Head Matchup: Tyler Reddick (-115) OVER Alex Bowman

Reddick flirted with his first NASCAR Cup Series victory two weeks ago at Darlington and was on pole last week at the All-Star Open after posting the fastest lap of 186.981 in qualifying. He ranks No. 8 in # of Fastest Laps (144) and No. 6 in Laps Led (230).

Bowman picked up his 7th Cup Series victory at Las Vegas earlier this year, but has finished outside the Top 10 in two of his last three starts at Charlotte. He ranks No. 13 in # of Fastest Laps (99) and No. 21 in Laps Led (18).

With Reddick rated No. 4 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Bowman No. 5, take Reddick (-115) to continue knocking on the door and have the edge in this matchup.
