Cleveland Cavaliers at LA Clippers Betting Preview

The LA Clippers host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night to wrap up a full slate of NBA basketball on Valentine’s Day. Los Angeles looks like a title contender again this season, while the Cavaliers are still in the middle of a long rebuild.

Cleveland comes into this game with a record of just 10-17, despite getting off to a strong start this season. The Cavaliers have now lost six straight games, and they are in fourth place in the Central Division. 

Los Angeles has won two straight games to improve its record to 19-8 this season. The Clippers sit in second place in the Pacific Division, but they will be a team that will factor into the NBA Championship race in the playoffs. 

The LA Clippers are 10-point favorites over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. 

Cavs Can’t Score

The Cavaliers are averaging just 103.9 points per game, and the lack of offense has really hurt them during this long losing streak. Cleveland wants to play the game at a fast pace, but it just hasn’t been able to make enough shots to win games.

Cleveland is also allowing nearly 112 points per game on the defensive end of the floor, and that will be a real challenge in this game. The Cavaliers do have plenty of young talent on the roster, but they aren’t ready to win big games.

Point guard Collin Sexton leads the team with over 22 points per game, and he looks like a future star in the league. Center Andre Drummond has chipped in with 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds, but he will likely be playing elsewhere by the end of the season. 

Clippers Solid on Both Ends

The Clippers are scoring more than 115 points per game, and they are led by two of the best players in the NBA. Los Angeles has also been terrific on the defensive end of the floor, giving up just 105 points per game.

Kawhi Leonard leads the way with 26.7 points per game, and he is also one of the best defensive players in the league. Paul George has chipped in with 24.4 points and 5.4 assists per game, and he has turned things around after a disappointing playoff run.

The Clippers have not been messing around this season, and that spells trouble for Cleveland. 

Cavs Keep it Close

The Cavaliers are not going to be a playoff team this season, but they have shown signs of serious improvement. Cleveland has been especially good on its home floor, and it won’t make things easy on the Clippers in this game.

Los Angeles just simply has too much talent to not win this game, but it will have to work for everything. Eventually, the depth of the Clippers will wear down the Cavaliers and allow them to win this game by a few possessions.
