Cincinnati Bengals vs Las Vegas Raiders Betting Preview/Prop Pick

12 January 2022

Saturday, January 15th Las Vegas Raiders @ Cincinnati Bengals

The NFL Playoffs begin on Saturday afternoon, and the first game of the weekend could be one of the most interesting. The Cincinnati Bengals are set to host the Las Vegas Raiders, and both of these teams will be looking to score.

Cincinnati came out of nowhere this season to win the AFC North, and this team should be good for the next several seasons. The Bengals had won three straight games before resting starters in Week 18, and this team has plenty of momentum.

Las Vegas was able to sneak into the postseason after winning four straight games. The Raiders needed a last-second field goal in Week 18 to pick up a win over the Los Angeles Chargers to sneak into the playoffs.

The Cincinnati Bengals are six-point betting favorites over the Las Vegas Raiders in this first-round NFL Playoff game.

Raiders Struggling to Run

If the Raiders are going to find some success in the postseason, then they are going to need to run the football better. Josh Jacobs had a big game in the season finale, but he managed just 872 rushing yards throughout the year.

Las Vegas quarterback Derek Carr has thrown for 4,804 yards and 23 touchdowns this year, and this has been the best season of his career. Hunter Renfrow leads the team with 1,038 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, and tight end Darren Waller has also been a huge factor.

Las Vegas gave up 32 points in the season finale to the Los Angeles Chargers, but that defense had been playing much better over the last few weeks of the season.

Bengals Putting Up Big Numbers

The Cincinnati Bengals scored more than 27 points per game during the regular season, and they are capable of being more explosive than that. Quarterback Joe Burrow put up some massive numbers this season, and he has a new favorite target.

Burrow threw for 4,611 yards and 34 touchdowns in 2021, and he won't be afraid to throw the ball deep in this game. Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase had 81 receptions for 1,455 yards, and he has been great at finding holes in the secondary.

The Cincinnati defense did allow over 22 points per game this season, but that unit really started to turn things around as the season moved along.

Bengals Blow Past Raiders

Both of these teams have the ability to put up some huge offensive numbers, but playing at home is going to give the Bengals a pretty big edge. The Raiders have been a much better defensive team of late, but they are going to struggle to slow down Joe Burrow and the Bengals' attack.

The Burrow-Chase combination has been putting up massive numbers this season, and they are going to be ready for their first playoff game together. Cincinnati still struggles to get stops at times, but they should be able to get some pressure on Derek Carr.

The crowd in Cincinnati is going to be electric, and this is going to give the home team a massive edge. Bet the Bengals -6.0 as they pick up a double-digit victory over the Las Vegas Raiders to kick off the NFL Playoffs.

Prop Pick

Cincinnati (-105) Over 27.5 Points

The Bengals scored 27.1 points per game during the regular season, which ranked seventh in the league. That average increased to 38.7 points in Cincinnati’s last three home victories against Kansas City, Baltimore and Pittsburgh.

The Raiders allowed 25.8 points per game, which ranked 26th. That average increased to 42.0 points in Las Vegas’ last two road losses to Kansas City and Dallas.

With Dunkel predicting a Cincinnati win by the score of 31-20, take the Bengals (-105) to finish OVER the Vegas team total of 27.5 points.
