Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Preview/Player Prop
24 October 2021
The Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to meet up on Sunday for a Week 7 matchup. Chicago upset Tampa Bay a season ago, and the Buccaneers will be looking for some revenge this time around.
The Bears come into this game with a record of 3-3, which keeps them in the playoff race in the NFC. Chicago suffered a Week 6 loss to the Green Bay Packers, and they are looking for a bounce-back victory.
Tampa Bay comes into this game with a record of 5-1, and they look like a contender to win the Super Bowl again this season. The Buccaneers have opened up a big lead in the NFC South, but they want to earn the top seed in the conference.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 13-point favorites over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
Defense Must Lead the Bears
The Chicago Bears are allowing just 20.7 points per game this season, and that unit made things difficult on Aaron Rodgers a week ago. There is a ton of pressure on that defense to deliver, and they could use a big game from the offense.
The Bears are going with Justin Fields at the quarterback position, and he looks to have a bright future in Chicago. The Bears have struggled to throw the ball, but they will be committed to the run in this game.
Chicago is averaging 129 rushing yards per game, and picking up yards on the ground will give the defense a chance to make some plays. Fields can help out in the rushing attack as well, and the Bears need him to deliver the best performance of his career.
Buccaneers Dealing With Injuries
The injury list is long for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the defending Super Bowl champions are going to be without some stars. The Buccaneers have been a terrific offensive team all season, but the defense has struggled at times.
Tom Brady has thrown for 2,064 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, and this might be the best season of his legendary career. Mike Evans leads the Bucs with 420 receiving yards, but this team has plenty of other weapons.
Tampa Bay is allowing over 24 points per game this season, and that has put some pressure on the offense. Look for the Buccaneers defense to find a way to dominate this matchup with the Bears.
Buccaneers Blow Out Bears
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the ability to put up points in a hurry, and the Chicago Bears do not. This game has an opportunity to get out of hand in a hurry unless the defense of the Bears is able to make some big stops.
Justin Fields still has a long way to grow before he is able to lead his team to big road wins like this game, and he’s going to make some critical mistakes. No team in the league can make you pay for mistakes like the Buccaneers, and that offense is going to put up a ton of points in this one.
Bet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers -13.0 over the Chicago Bears as this game turns into a blowout.
Leonard Fournette (-135) To Score A TD
It’s hard to say the defending champion Bucs had much to improve on following last season, but the reemergence of Fournette as an every-down RB has made the offense that much more dangerous.
Following his 2019 season in which he had 1,152 yard rushing (4.3 average) and another 522 yards receiving on 76 receptions with the Jaguars, Fournette became more of a situational back with Tampa Bay last year.
The result was a plummet in his stats as he dropped to 367 rushing yards and 233 receiving yards. He did still find the end zone six times during the regular season and added four more scores in the postseason, including a TD in the Super Bowl win over Kansas City.
In fact, Fournette’s performance in the SB showed what a force he could be if used more regularly. He finished with 89 yards on the ground (5.6 average) and 46 yards through the air (11.5 average) in addition to the score.
Not surprisingly, the Bucs have relied on Fournette more in recent weeks to balance out the Brady air show. His 376 total yards over the last three weeks ranks third behind only Derrick Henry (463) and Jonathan Taylor (441). His 545 yards to date has him on pace to top his 2019 totals with the Jags.
And he’s started to find the end zone again. He picked up a TD in Week 5 against Miami and added two more last week in Philadelphia. With the former LSU back playing at a peak level right now, we’ll look for the Bucs to continue to increase his usage rate and take Fournette (-135) to score another TD today against the Bears.
