Week 2 of the NFL Preseason is set to begin on Thursday night with a matchup of two teams from the NFC. The Seattle Seahawks host the Chicago Bears in a battle of teams that need to bounce back in 2022.
Chicago was one of the worst teams in the NFL a season ago, and the Bears made some big coaching changes in the offseason. The Bears were able to pick up a win in the preseason opener, getting past the Kansas City Chiefs at home.
Seattle suffered a 32-25 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1 of the preseason. The Seahawks were not in the playoffs in 2021, and they made a big trade this offseason that has reset the offense.
The Seattle Seahawks are four-point betting favorites over the Chicago Bears on Thursday night.
Bears Need Some Offense
One of the biggest reasons that Matt Nagy was fired at the end of the 2021 season was the fact that the Bears were horrible on offense. Chicago will have Justin Fields back to lead the offense in 2022, and Fields could take a big jump this season.
The Bears got 137 rushing yards in the win over the Chiefs, and a good run game will be needed to take pressure off of the quarterback. Chicago does not have a ton of big names on the roster, and finding consistent offense could be a struggle.
Defense has always been a calling card for the Chicago Bears, but there are some questions on that side of the ball as well. If the Bears can shut teams down, then the offense could take off.
Seattle Looking For Defense
The Seattle Seahawks are going to have to win games with their defense if they want to be a playoff contender in 2022. Seattle no longer has the "Legion of Boom," but the same defensive identity is needed.
Russell Wilson is no longer the quarterback in Seattle as the team will now turn to Drew Lock. Lock threw for two touchdowns in the preseason opener as head coach Pete Carroll wants to see his new signal caller get some time.
Even though it's the preseason, the Seahawks are still going to enjoy a nice home-field advantage in this matchup. The Seahawks want to bounce back after a loss in Week 1, and they will play well in this game.
Seahawks Slip Past the Bears
Both of these teams have some pretty big holes on their respective rosters, and the 2022 regular season could be a challenge. The preseason is a time for each team to try and figure some things out, and Seattle has more questions that need answered.
Chicago was able to come back and pick up a win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, but they won't have the same luck on the road. Seattle shouldn't have a ton of trouble scoring points in this game, and the Seahawks' defense will make some plays when needed.
