Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview/Player Prop
12 September 2021

The Chicago Bears will be in Los Angeles on Sunday night for a matchup with the Rams in primetime. These two teams have met in primetime in each of the last two seasons, and all of the games have been close.
Chicago was able to sneak into the playoff field a season ago despite having plenty of flaws. The Bears are not expected to contend in a tough NFC North Division, but they also won’t be an easy team to play.
Los Angeles also reached the playoffs in 2020, but this team is now looking to take the next step this season. The NFC West Division might be the best in football this season, but the Rams have enough talent to win it.
The Los Angeles Rams are 7.5-point favorites over the Chicago Bears in this NFC showdown on Monday night.
Dalton Starting For Chicago
The Chicago Bears are going with veteran Andy Dalton at quarterback to begin the season, but he likely won’t finish the season under center. Rookie Justin Fields is the future in Chicago, and he will give the offense a much better chance to score when he finally takes over.
On Sunday night, look for running back David Montgomery to get plenty of touches as the Bears will try to break through that tough Rams defense. This offense is not expected to score many points, and that is going to hold the Bears back all season.
Khalil Mack leads a defense that needs to be more dominant in 2020, but the pieces are in place to do just that. Chicago does have plenty of experience in dealing with Matthew Stafford.
Rams Can Get Stops
Aaron Donald is the best defensive player in the NFL, and he is going to lead this Rams team to the playoffs this season. Los Angeles did lose some defensive players from last season, but they are going to make life tough on Andy Dalton.
Stafford is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the NFL, and he just never had much help in Detroit. Head coach Sean McVay loves to throw the football, and Stafford’s big arm should allow this offense to shine.
Running the football will be a big key for Los Angeles this season as they have to find some offensive balance.
Rams Roll Over Bears
Both of these teams should be in the playoff race all season long, but the Rams are better suited to win in Week 1. Andy Dalton just doesn’t have what it takes to lead his offense over a great defense like the Rams.
Los Angeles is hoping that Matthew Stafford is the missing piece between them and a Super Bowl, and the quarterback will play well in the season opener. The rest of the game will be dominated by the Rams defense as they completely take over and allow Los Angeles to create some separation.
Bet the Los Angeles Rams -7.5 as they roll to a big win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday night.
Player Prop
Matthew Stafford (-172) Over 1.5 TD Passes
Stafford’s trade to the Rams from Detroit for Jared Goff and two future first round draft picks was the deal of the NFL offseason. Now we’ve learned just how close Stafford came to going to the Carolina Panthers for Teddy Bridgewater instead. Suffice to say Stafford is happy to be in LA and LA is happy to have Stafford.
And what’s not to like about a QB that has over 45,000 passing yards and 282 TDs against only 144 INTs. The only thing missing is a signature postseason run. He didn’t get it in Detroit and will be looking for it in LA.
With the Rams top-rated defense, he’s likely to get numerous chances to get off on the right foot tonight. And he’s enjoyed success against Chicago. In fact, his most recent 400-yard, multi-TD game came against the Bears in 2020 when he threw for 402 yards and 3 TDs.
We’ll go with Stafford (-172) tonight on the big stage to give the Rams fans an immediate return and go over 1.5 TD tosses.
