CFL Week 7 Betting Preview

20 July 2022

It is kind of hard to believe the CFL season is already at Week 7! In the West Division, it seems there is a very competitive race for the top spot. In the East division, it looks more like a travesty. There is truly no telling what can happen!

Montreal at Ottawa

Time: 7:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Montreal 113.216; Ottawa 102.865
Dunkel Line & Total: Montreal by 10 ½; 46
Vegas Line & Total: Montreal by 2; 48
Dunkel Pick: Montreal (-2); Under

Our week kicks off with Thursday Night Football in the capital! The Montreal Alouettes (1-4) are facing off against the winless Redblacks!

Even with Montréal's poor start, they should not drop this game. It was an undisciplined mess last week without their head coach.

This week seems to be very promising. The Als may not have momentum going into this game, but with Vernon Adams Jr. likely starting, he could reignite the spark!

With the absence of stud QB Jerimiah Masoli, the Redblacks are left with turnover machine Nick Arbuckle. Seven percent of Arbuckle's passes end up in the opposing team's hands. Montreal has taken many turnovers to the house.

Montreal should win this one quite handily and should have some momentum within the following weeks!

Hamilton at BC

Time: 10:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Hamilton 108.866; BC 112.829
Dunkel Line & Total: BC by 4; 49
Vegas Line & Total: BC by 8; 51
Dunkel Pick: Hamilton (+8); Under

An unusual doubleheader on Thursday night! The struggling Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-4) head to the West to face off against the hot-shot BC Lions (3-1).

If you have been watching the CFL this year, you would know that the Tiger-Cats have been pretty bad, and the Lions have been roaring. Momentum has a massive impact on a team's ability to perform. The momentum is shifting toward Hamilton!

The Tiger-Cats finally won a game last week as they narrowly squeaked by the Redblacks. Dane Evans finally had a phenomenal game with a 75% completion, over 300 yards, and tossed two touchdowns! Their defense played fairly poorly, allowing the Redblacks to keep this matchup close.

Rourkemania has taken a sudden halt. While the Lions are evidently better, Rourke had a rough game last week.

The Lions' defense was basically sleeping and played not great against a mediocre offense. This game will be closer than anyone had anticipated.

Winnipeg at Edmonton

Time: 9:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Winnipeg 125.715; Edmonton 101.738
Dunkel Line & Total: Winnipeg by 24; 48
Vegas Line & Total: Winnipeg by 7; 47
Dunkel Pick: Winnipeg (-7); Over

The best of the West heads to Edmonton for some Friday night football fun! The top team in the CFL, Winnipeg Blue Bombers (6-0), take on the last place in the West division, Edmonton Elks (2-4).

There is no team that can compete was the Blue Bombers. They are the most complete team, and they have blown out most teams very handedly.

The defense is just too good to be true. They allow sub 20 points per game and allow under 80 rush yards per game. Their big blue wrecking crew has been the reason for this success.

The Elk pulled together a nice win in Quebec last week. Granted, it was by one point, but a win is a win!

This week they will get slapped in the face with a true competitor. The Elk just are frankly very generous by giving up its endzone for free as they allow a league-high 36.7 points per game.

The Elk sadly do not match up well against the Blue Bombers. This game will be a large blowout, and Winnipeg will run away with this game!

Toronto at Saskatchewan

Time: 7:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Toronto 111.134; Saskatchewan 113.699
Dunkel Line & Total: Saskatchewan by 2 ½; 48
Vegas Line & Total: Saskatchewan 6 ½; 47
Dunkel Pick: Toronto (+6 ½); Over

We conclude with the six squad heading to Regina. The East division leaders, Toronto Argonauts (2-2), travel to Saskatchewan to face off against the Saskatchewan Roughriders (4-2).

In a normal circumstance, it is a no-brainer to go with the Roughriders. The team is more balanced by not this week. Without the presence of star QB Cody Fajardo who will likely be hurt, they will not cover the spread.

The Regina Sack party won't stop the fun, but the offense could stall and cause a loss.

Toronto has the perfect opportunity to finally score some points. They scored a league-low of 18.8 points. With their solid defense, this team will likely be able to keep this game within striking distance for their offense and will cover the spread!
