CFL Week 6 Betting Preview
12 July 2023

We have already reached Week 6 of the CFL season, and it’s been a very competitive league through the first five weeks. Some teams are starting to separate from the pack a bit, while others are trying to get their seasons back on track.
Just like with most weeks, there are going to be four games set to take place this week around the CFL. Here is a look at each of the four matchups set to take place, and a Dunkel pick and prediction for each matchup.
Hamilton Tiger Cats at Edmonton Elks
The Hamilton Tiger Cats hit the road in Week 6 as they are 2.5-point betting favorites over the Edmonton Elks. Hamilton has won just one game this season, but that still puts them ahead of Edmonton, as the Elks are still looking for their first win of the year.
The problem for the Elks is that they haven’t won a home game in more than two years, and they continue to suffer close losses. This should allow Hamilton to come into the game and jump on Edmonton early, and that will end up being the difference.
Bet on the Hamilton Tiger Cats at -2.5 as they win this game by almost 10 points.
Toronto Argonauts at Montreal Alouettes
The best game of the weekend will take place in Montreal as the Alouettes are set to host the Toronto Argonauts in a rematch of the East final from a year ago. Both teams are off to a great start in 2023 as well, and this game will draw plenty of attention from fans.
Chad Kelly has been terrific at quarterback for Toronto, and it’s hard to see that changing much in this matchup. Montreal just suffered a bad loss a week ago, and it will take them some time to bounce back.
Take Toronto -2.5 as they will make a statement with a dominant road win.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Ottawa Redblacks
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers hit the road to Ottawa this weekend to play the Redblacks, and the visitors are nine-point betting favorites. The Redblacks are dealing with a ton of crushing injuries this season, and it’s not going to go well for this offense.
Winnipeg looks like a team that can contend for a CFL title this season, and they have an offense that can score points in bunches. The Redblacks should get a nice boost from the home crowd, but it’s not going to be enough to win this game.
Take Winnipeg -9.0, as this will be a double-digit win.
Calgary Stampeders at Saskatchewan Roughriders
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are 1.5-point betting favorites over the Calgary Stampeders this weekend in what could be a terrific matchup. Calgary has gone just 1-3 to begin the season, while Saskatchewan is currently sitting at 3-1 on the year.
This betting line might seem tight for a pair of teams that look to have a big gap in the records, but Saskatchewan has barely been winning games so far this season. Calgary should be able to keep this game close, but finding a way to win it won’t be easy.
Take the Saskatchewan Roughriders at -1.5 as they pick up another close victory.
