CFL Week 4 Betting Preview
27 June 2023

We have reached Week 4 of the CFL season, and this is going to be a smaller slate of games than what has taken place to begin the year. There are just six teams in action this week, but all three games do have the potential to be good ones.
It is still extremely early in the CFL season, but the action has already started to heat up throughout the league. The division races are going to heat up with each week that passes, and there are matchups this week that will impact those races.
Here is a look at the three games on the Week 3 CFL schedule, and a Dunkel betting preview and pick is included.
Edmonton Elks at Ottawa Redblacks
Week 4 of the CFL season begins with a matchup in Ottawa as the Redblacks host the Edmonton Elks. The home team is a 3.5-point betting favorite in this matchup, and they have also been the better team this season.
Both teams are still looking for their first win, but Edmonton has been an absolute disaster on defense. The Elks have given up nearly 30 points per game, and they are going to struggle to slow down Ottawa.
The Redblacks are looking to get their offense rolling, but they are going to have a great opportunity in this game. Look for Ottawa to play some terrific football in this game, and taking them at -3.5 is the way to go.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Montreal Alouettes
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are 5.5-point betting favorites on the road in Montreal on July 1, and this is a game that could end up getting out of hand. Winnipeg comes into this game with a record of 2-1, while Montreal is 2-0 on the year.
Even though the Alouettes have a perfect record up to this point, they haven’t faced a good schedule at all. Montreal is going to struggle to score in this game, and it’s going to force them to play catch up.
Winnipeg is going to put on a show on offense in this one, and taking them at -5.5 is the way to go.
BC Lions at Toronto Argonauts
The best game of the weekend could be taking place on July 3 as the 3-0 BC Lions are going to be taking on the 2-0 Toronto Argonauts. It’s still very early in the season, but this feels like a matchup that we could see for the title at the end of the postseason.
BC is a slim 1.5-point betting favorite in this game, and they already have a positive point differential of 56 points so far this season. The Lions have been able to take advantage of a weaker schedule to begin the year, but that all changes in this one.
Toronto is the defending champions, and they have shown that they are going to be a tough team to beat this season as well. The Argonauts have been terrific on offense to begin the year, and they should have another big game in this one.
The best pick to make is taking the Argonauts on the moneyline to win at home, as that offense will deliver.
