CFL Week 3 Betting Preview

22 June 2022

Many teams outperformed their expectations, and others were underwhelming. Nonetheless, Week 3 should continue to surprise us with more amazing matchups.

Saskatchewan at Montreal

Time: 7:30 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Saskatchewan 113.406; Montreal 114.992
Dunkel Line & Total: Montreal by 1 ½; 41
Vegas Line & Total: Saskatchewan by 2 ½; 44 ½
Dunkel Pick: Montreal (+2 ½); Under

Saskatchewan has blown out every team it has played this year. It is no surprise that the elusive Cody Fajardo has yet to meet his kryptonite thus far in the season. WR Shaq Evans and RB Jammal Morrow have also been key contributors to the Roughriders' offensive success.

In two consecutive games, the Roughrider defense has allowed under 20 PPG and totaled 13 sacks. However, if you take a deeper look at their opponents, you may come to realize that that feat may not be as impressive.

Although the Alouettes are still on the quest for their first win, they have been 2-0 ATS to start the year. With Trevor Harris starting Thursday (Vernon Adams Jr. tested positive for COVID), the offense will continue to fire on all cylinders. With a passing attack consisting of league leader Eugene Lewis and emerging star Reggie White Jr, it will not be easy to stop Montreal.

The Alouettes' defense has been the downfall of this team. If they can limit the point they give up, the Alouettes will win this football game. But until that happens, the spread at 2.5 is safe.

Hamilton at Winnipeg

Time: 8:30 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Hamilton 111.187; Winnipeg 120.119
Dunkel Line & Total: Winnipeg by 9; 47
Vegas Line & Total: Winnipeg by 5; 43
Dunkel Pick: Winnipeg (-5); Over

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have been the most disappointing team thus far in the season. Even with the league's leader in passing yards Dane Evans, they still can not seem to buy a win for the life of them.

Where this team has really been lacking is their defense. They have registered one total sack in two games. You cannot expect to win a game without putting pressure on the QB, and this week that is more important than ever!

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers shocked many people with their low-point victories against Ottawa the past two weeks. Now is the time to see if they still have the firepower to defend their title! QB Zach Collaros has a nose for the end zone with his 6.2 TD%, which is second in the league this year.

Their defense, to no surprise, has been among the league-best allowing under 17 PPG, and have out-sacked their opponents! This is a ball club that can actively win games and is still the best in the West!

Edmonton at Calgary

Time: 7:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Edmonton 99.105; Calgary 116.478
Dunkel Line & Total: Calgary by 17 ½; 55
Vegas Line & Total: Calgary by 9; 49 ½
Dunkel Pick: Calgary (-9); Over

It's not worth talking about how poor the Elks have been playing. They have too much to figure out and not enough time to deal with it. Beyond their one bright spot, WR Kenny Lawler, this team has not had much to cheer for. In two consecutive games, they have been bruised, battered, and beaten!

QB Nick Arbuckle has struggled, throwing a league-high five interceptions. He has been sacked nine times. Their point differential is -54 in two weeks. That's enough said.

The Stampeders have had two consecutive nail-bitter weeks. Both games were decided by three points in the dying minutes of the game.

Bo Levi Mitchell is going to let off some steam this week for sure. Without star RB Ka'Deem Carey, he is going to let that ball fly all over Edmonton!

The Elk vs. Stampeders is bound to be a blowout. Even with a spread favoring Calgary by nine points, the Elk have not pulled it together in any game this year. Until there is some fight in this Elk team, the battle of Alberta will stay with Calgary.

Toronto at BC

Time: 10:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Toronto 115.167; BC 112.200
Dunkel Line & Total: Toronto by 3; 43
Vegas Line & Total: BC by 3; 47 ½
Dunkel Pick: Toronto (+3); Under

Toronto played an excellent game considering it was their first one of the year. RB Andrew Harris is back like he never left and made it seem like age is just a number.

After rushing for 87 yards in game one, that is only the beginning. McLeod Bethel-Thompson played a pretty decent game last Thursday, but we should expect more from him this week.

The Agros defense completely shut out Montreal for the majority of the game. They truly signified "bend don't break" after almost losing on a last-minute field goal attempt.

They forced a QB switch in the middle of the first half! This could be one of the best games this week!

BC is coming off a bye, but their week one win was so impressive. Their offense will not be easy to stop as QB Nathan Rourke has weapons everywhere you look! WR Bryan Burnham and Lucky Whitehead have been among the league's best, and their production will only be growing!

The BC defense has not faced a challenge this year, and that is why after their 40-point win, they are not favored. They could win this matchup, but it will not be a blowout!
