CFL Picks: BC at Saskatchewan
06 August 2021

Week 1 of the CFL schedule continues on Friday night with the Saskatchewan Roughriders hosting the BC Lions. Kick off is 9:30 pm ET at Mosaic Stadium.
Roughriders Look To Repeat In West
Saskatchewan put together a strong season in 2019 with a 13-5 record and first-place finish in the West Division. Former Nevada QB Cody Fajardo returns following an 4,302-yard, 18-TD performance. WR Shaq Evans (1,134 yards) and RB William Powell (1,093 yards, 12 TDs) also return to lead the Roughriders on offense.
Lions Get Defensive
BC is coming off a disappointing 5-13 season, but did field one of the better defenses in the league after giving up just 326.8 yards per game and slightly more than 25 points. The offense will once again be helmed by QB Michael Reilly (3,897 yards, 20 TDs).
Dunkel’s Pick: BC (+7); Under
The Dunkel Index has Saskatchewan coming into the contest with a rating of 117.293, while BC has a rating of 114.498. That makes the Roughriders 3 points stronger on their home turf. Dunkel also forecasts a point total of 39.
The Vegas sportsbooks have Saskatchewan as a 7-point home favorite and a over/under total of 48 ½.
The BC defense should keep the Lions in this game and hold the final score within the Vegas line, according to Dunkel. Dunkel is also calling for the under on the point total.
