Week 6 of the NFL season wraps up on Monday night with the Tennessee Titans hosting the Buffalo Bills. Both teams are currently leading their respective divisions, and this is a potential AFC Playoff preview.
Buffalo suffered a season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they have been on a roll since that time. The Bills have rattled off four straight wins, and they have been extremely impressive in doing so.
Tennessee comes into Week 6 with a record of 3-2, and the Titans are still looking to really get things going. The Titans are leading the AFC South Division, but they are looking to increase that lead.
The Buffalo Bills are 5.5-point favorites over the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football.
Bills Blowing Teams Out
The Buffalo Bills are averaging over 34 points per game this season while allowing just 12.8 points per game on defense. Buffalo has been able to win each of the last four games by at least 18 points, and they haven’t been tested.
Quarterback Josh Allen is one of the frontrunners to win the MVP Award this season as he has already thrown for 1,370 yards and 12 touchdowns. Allen is also capable of making plays with his legs, and the Bills are averaging 140 rushing yards per game.
The Bills defense has given up just 78 yards per game, and that unit is going to need to play a key role in this game. Tennessee wants to run the football, and the Bills must close the running lanes.
Henry Needs Some Help
Running back Derrick Henry leads the NFL with 640 rushing yards, and he has also found the end zone seven times. Tennessee is comfortable putting the ball in Henry’s hands, but they also need to find a way to give him some help.
Julio Jones has played a role in the passing attack with 204 receiving yards, but the Titans have also dealt with some injuries. Tennessee is averaging just 251 passing yards per game, and they will need to make some big plays in this one.
The defense of the Titans isn’t going to completely shut down the Bills, but they will need to limit the explosive plays.
Bills Beat Titans in Close Game
Buffalo has arguably been the most impressive team in the NFL so far this season, but playing on the road is never easy. The Bills should be able to put up a ton of points in this game, but finding a way to slow down Derrick Henry is never an easy task.
Tennessee is a team that has had plenty of recent success as well, and the Titans won’t be overwhelmed by the Bills' vaunted attack. Look for the Titans to run the ball effectively in this game, and that will allow them to keep it close.
Tennessee will give the Bills all they can handle on Monday night, but Buffalo will leave town with their 5th win of the year. Take the 5.5-points and bet on the Tennessee Titans, but it will be the Buffalo Bills that win this huge AFC showdown.
Player Prop
Derrick Henry (-195) To Score A TD
It’s said about a lot of players, but likely not as true as for this 6th-year RB – as Derrick Henry goes so go the Titans.
The former Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama just continues be more productive with every season. It’s hard to imagine him topping last year’s output – 2,027 rushing yards, 5.4 average, 17 TDs – but he looks well on his way to another banner year.
His 640 rushing yards (4.5 average) leads the league by a wide margin as does his 7 rushing TDs. And while he hasn’t scored through the air, his 14 receptions so far has him on a pace to easily top the career-high 19 receptions he had last year. It's just another option that opposing defenses are going to have to account for going forward.
For Tennessee to have any chance against the Bills tonight, it’s going to take a high usage rate from the Titans’ offensive force. We’ll take Henry (-195) to rise to the occasion and score a TD against Buffalo.
