Buffalo Bills at Detroit Lions Betting Preview

22 November 2022 By Cole Paganelli

There are a ton of great Thanksgiving Day traditions in the United States, but one of the best involves NFL football. The Detroit Lions host the Buffalo Bills, and this has the potential to be an interesting matchup.

Buffalo comes into this game with an overall record of 7-3, and they are now in a dogfight in the AFC East Division. The Bills were able to end a two-game losing streak by picking up a 31-23 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Detroit comes into this game with a ton of momentum, as they have rattled off three straight wins. The Lions are still just 4-6 on the year, but they are suddenly back into the playoff race in the NFC.

The Buffalo Bills are nine-point betting favorites over the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Day.

Allen Playing Through Injury

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is trying to battle through injury, and it is clearly affecting his performance on the field. Allen has thrown 21 touchdowns this season, but he has also thrown ten interceptions on the year.

Stefon Diggs has racked up 1,033 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, and he is going to be a big key in this game. Buffalo has to find a way to get more yards on the ground in an effort to take pressure off of Allen and the passing game.

The Buffalo defense is holding opponents to just 17.4 points per game this season, and that unit has the ability to take over. Buffalo will need to slow down an explosive offense to win this one.

Lions Have to Get Stops

The Detroit offense comes into this game with a ton of momentum, but they have to find a way to get stops on defense. Detroit is allowing 28 points per game this season, and they continue to struggle to slow down the run.

The Lions have scored 31 points in back-to-back games, and they are starting to find balance on offense. Detroit is led by quarterback Jared Goff as he has thrown for 2,442 yards and 15 touchdowns this season.

Running back Jamaal Williams comes into this game with 668 rushing yards on the year, and he has also found the end zone 12 times. Finding a rushing attack is one way to allow the Lions to slow this game down.

Bills Win Tight Battle

This game did not look like it would be a competitive game just a few years ago, but things have changed in a big way. Detroit is playing its best football of the season, and that momentum could allow them to keep this game close.

Ultimately it is going to be the offense of the Bills that takes control of this game, but it’s not going to be easy for four quarters. Detroit has a history of some big performances on Thanksgiving Day, and that will be the case in this one as well.

The Buffalo Bills will come away with this win, but taking the nine points and betting on the Lions is the way to go in this one.
