As much as the Pittsburgh Pirates have played below expectations this year, they are still only 2 1/2 games out of the final wild card spot in the NL. One thing Clint Hurdle's team will need to get down the stretch is better performances out of ace Gerrit Cole. The Bucs have lost each of Cole's last three starts dating back to a win over Atlanta on August 2. Cole (7-8, 3.30) will get a chance to turn things around today as he takes the mound against Houston and starter Colin McHugh (7-10, 4.99).
