Brooklyn Nets at New York Knicks Betting Preview/Prop Pick

16 February 2022

The Brooklyn Nets got their first win in eleven games just a few nights ago. They were able to take down the Sacramento Kings, 109-85. This was a huge win for the Nets, who were on an awful skid, but things are looking brighter.

They'll have a few players back into the lineup again, giving them a great chance here. However, they still come in as the underdogs for this game.

The New York Knicks are in a spot similar to where the Nets were just a few games ago. The Knicks are on a two-game losing streak, and things aren't looking good. Now the good news for the Knicks is that they're playing at home.

They have a slightly better record at home, 13-16, than they do playing on the road. So, who should you take in this Wednesday night game?

Brooklyn Nets: No Simmons, Irving, or Durant tonight

Yet again, Ben Simmons will be sitting out for this game against the New York Knicks. It's unfortunate because the Nets are already dealing with injuries to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

However, the team performed just fine against the Sacramento Kings just a few nights ago. They'll rely yet again on players like Seth Curry and LaMarcus Aldridge to carry the team today.

The Knicks defense ranks eighth in the NBA, allowing just 106.48 points per game. Unfortunately for them, their offense isn't quite up to par.

The Nets can use this to their advantage since some of their best scorers are sidelined. In his first game as a Nets player, Seth Curry scored 23 points. They'll look to him to help notch their second win in a row.

New York Knicks: Lack of offensive talent is hurting New York

After losing two games in a row, the Knicks are hoping to put a strike in the win column today. However, it's becoming increasingly obvious that their offense isn't putting up much of a fight.

The good news for the Knicks is that the Nets haven't been playing well on the road. Unfortunately, they have a new player that can stretch out the Knicks' defense, Seth Curry.

The Knicks offense averages 105.03 points per game, ranking 27th in the NBA. With the lackluster offense of the Knicks, they could have trouble covering the spread.

The Brooklyn defense isn't great, but they average nearly 45 rebounds per game. If the Knicks get out-rebounded by the Nets, they'll lose this one. Now, let's go over the lines and our pick.

Our pick for the Brooklyn Nets at New York Knicks

The Knicks come into this game as 4.5-point favorites and are playing at home. The Nets have been awful on the road lately, losing eight straight road games.

Taking that into consideration, we'll have to go with the Knicks here, the team that recently beat Golden State. The Nets are still dealing with injuries and personal ailments from their star players.

With no Kyrie Irving or Ben Simmons, they'll look to Seth Curry, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Andre Drummond. Although these players were able to get a win over Sacramento, we don't see them getting another here.

Take the Knicks to cover the 4.5-point spread and for the total to go under because of these lackluster offenses.

DunkelIndex Free Pick: New York Knicks -4.5, UNDER

Prop Pick

Brooklyn (-115) UNDER 106.5 Points

The Knicks are allowing an average of 106.5 points per game on defense, which ranks No. 8 in the league. That average drops slightly to 106.4 points per game at home. Scores have gone UNDER in 21 of New York’s last 26 home games versus the Nets.

With Dunkel predicting a New York victory by the score of 111-102, take the Nets (-115) to finish UNDER their Vegas team total of 106.5 points against the Knicks.
