Boston Red Sox at Oakland Athletics Betting Preview

03 July 2021

The Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics will continue a weekend series on Saturday night, and these are two of the best teams in the American League. Boston took the series opener over Oakland by a score of 3-2, and this should be another competitive series.

The Red Sox come into this game having won eight straight, and they are starting to open up a commanding lead in the American League East. Boston brings a record of 52-31 into this game, and they are also an impressive 25-14 away from home.

Oakland has gone just 2-3 in their last five games, and they have started to head in the opposite direction a bit. The Athletics come into Saturday with a record of 48-36, and they are now in second place in the AL West.

The Oakland Athletics are -133 on the money line in this showdown with the Boston Red Sox.

Red Sox Can Really Score

The Boston Red Sox are an absolute juggernaut at the plate, and this team just continues to wear down opposing pitching staffs. Boston has scored a total of 428 runs this season, and they are also hitting an impressive .261 as a team.

Xander Bogaearts and Rafael Devers are putting up some impressive numbers this season, and both players will be starting in the All-Star Game. Bogaerts leads the team with a .324 batting average, and Devers leads the way with 20 home runs and 70 RBIs.

Garrett Richards starts for Boston on Saturday night, and he has gone just 4-5 with an ERA of 4.96 so far this season. Richards won’t need to be perfect to give the Red Sox a chance to win.

Athletics Looking For Offense

Oakland has been an inconsistent offensive team this season, but things have not been going well of late. The Athletics are still a top-10 offense in most categories, but they need to break out the big bats in this matchup.

Matt Olson leads the way with 20 home runs and 53 RBIs to go along with a batting average of .284. This is a team that doesn’t do much slugging, and that has hurt them when trying to produce some runs.

Cole Irvin is on the mound on Saturday night, and he has pitched well for the Athletics. Irvin has gone 6-7 with an ERA of under 4.00, but he will be facing a great offensive team.

Boston Beats Oakland

This matchup could potentially be a playoff preview, but the Athletics are catching the Red Sox at the absolute worst time. Boston is doing everything well at this point in time, and Oakland is going to have to find a way to end their momentum.

Oakland does appear to have an edge in the starting pitching matchup on Saturday night, but the Athletics will have to start scoring some runs. Look for the Red Sox to take control of this game at the plate, and they will simply outscore the other team.

Bet the Boston Red Sox money line as they pick up their ninth straight victory in impressive fashion.
