Boston Red Sox at Houston Astros Betting Pick

02 June 2021

The Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros will continue their four-game series on Wednesday night at Minute Maid Park. Houston has won the first two games of this series, and they have done so in convincing fashion.

Boston comes into this game with a record of 32-22, which is good enough for second place in the AL East. The Red Sox have still been better than expected this season, but now they are fighting to hang on.

Houston has now won three straight games to improve to 30-24 on the year. The Astros still trail the Oakland Athletics in the AL West Division, but it is by the slimmest of margins.

The Houston Astros the favorites at -145 on the money line for this matchup with Boston.

Boston Bats Are Silent

Boston has been a great offensive team this season, but that hasn’t been the case in this series. As a result, the Red Sox are going to have to hit for some power if they are going to snap this skid against the Astros.

ThirdRafael Devers leads the team with 14 home runs and 43 RBIs this season, but he has been quiet this season. J.D. Martinez continues to hit well, but Boston needs contributions from the entire lineup.

Nick Pivettta starts for Boston on Wednesday, and he is a perfect 6-0 on the season with a 3.86 ERA. However, the Red Sox bullpen has been hit hard in this series, and they are in need of a great outing from Pivetta to turn this series around.

Pitching Powering Houston

The Houston Astros have a team ERA of 3.82 this season, but the pitching staff has been better than that this week. Houston has held the Red Sox to just three runs in this series, which has been a key to their success.

Framber Valdez starts for Houston on Wednesday night, and he is 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA to begin the year. If Valdez gives Houston a quality start, then this team will be hard to beat.

Kyle Tucker leads the Astros with 11 home runs this season, and he drove in four runs in the series opener. Jose Altuve is starting to heat up at the plate as well, and this lineup continues to be scary at times.

Astros Blow Out Boston

Boston has not been competitive this week in Houston, and it’s hard to see that changing on Wednesday night. The Red Sox do have one of their best pitchers on the mound, but they are facing a red-hot offense.

Houston has been on a mission this season, and they are always a tough team to beat at home. However, beating the Red Sox has given the Astros plenty of momentum and confidence, and the Astros will continue riding that wave.

This should be another great night for the Astros as they take control of the game once again. Bet the Houston Astros -2.5 as the Houston offense takes control on Wednesday night.
