BMW Championship Betting Preview

25 August 2020

The top 70 golfers will head to Olympia Fields, Illinois for the second week of playoff golf. The BMW Championship will take place at the Olympia Fields Country Club. The par 70 course will be quite the challenge for all the golfers. Last season in Medinah, Illinois Justin Thomas destroyed the field and won with a -25. Dustin Johnson and Tiger Woods have also won this event twice in their career. This should be a fun event, here are a few of our betting favorites:

Jon Rahm +1000

Rahm has two TOp 5 finishes at the BMW Championship. This season, Rahm has made the cut 13 out of 14 times, and finished in the Top 10, 7 times. Rahm is coming off a 6th place finish at the Northern Trust, which comes after coming in 13th at the PGA Championship. Rahm has spent some time at the top of the leaderboard when it comes to the best golfer in the world. While he will be there in the end, taking him as the second favorite brings some risks as well.

Dustin Johnson +850

What a weekend Dustin Johnson had last week! WOW! He completely destroyed the Boston course. Can he do it in back to back weeks? Well, his history shows, the last time he won an event he went 126th the following week. But, last week’s title was after a second place at the PGA Championship. Is Dustin Johnson just that hot? We will find out. But, as the betting favorite, do you like the 8.5/1 odds? If your answer is yes, your bet is on Dustin Johnson.

Daniel Berger +1800

Daniel Berger is quietly putting together an incredible season on the golf course. He has just the one win, but has 7 Top 10 finishes and recently three straight Top 15 finishes. He went 2nd at the WGC and 3rd at the Northern Trust. Berger is a guy that can get hot, and people do not even notice. His betting odds are actually pretty good. To get 18/1 on this guy - take it and run. Daniel Berger is a nice bet for this weekend in Chicago.

Webb Simpson +1400

Webb Simpson is a machine when it comes to playing golf. The guy has two wins this season, and 9 Top 10 finishes. Recently, Simpson went for third place at the Wyndham and 6th at the Northern Trust. In between that, we saw a 37th place finish at PGA, and 12th at WGC. The guy can strike it with the best of them. Right now, Simpson is third in the Fed-Ex Cup Standings, so there is quite a bit to play for.

Others in Consideration:

Rory Mcllroy +1800

While this is a no cut event, Rory is a guy that has made the cut every event. Rory has 6 Top 10 finishes. Last weekend, his 74 on Day 3 really sunk his chances at competing in the Top 20. He has now gone 7 straight events without a Top 10 finish. That dates all the way back to before the break. There is no guy this guy is struggling. But, remember the brilliance we have seen from him before? +1800 is very doable betting odds

Justin Thomas +1200

What else can we say about JT? The guy is an absolute stud. Thomas won the Fed Ex a couple weeks ago, but since then went back to back 37th and 49th. But, really? +1200 odds is really good for the guy that can go out and destroy four rounds of golf like Thomas!

This is going to be an awesome event! Chicago area is going to be hopping, despite no fans, and we cannot wait to see the best of the best compete. Good luck and enjoy!
