The FedEx Cup Playoffs enter the second of three weeks, with Will Zalatoris climbing to the top of the standings after his win last week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Scottie Scheffler dropped to #2 in the standings even though he missed the cut last week in Memphis, and #3 ranked Cameron Smith is withdrawing from the playoffs and perhaps has played his last PGA Tour event as rumors swirl about an impending move to LIV Golf.
There’s a lot of uncertainty at the top of the FedEx Cup standings, which is why the Dunkel Index is the rankings to trust this weekend in Delaware. The Wilmington Country Club has never held a pro golf tournament, so throw course history out the window and trust our numbers.

Golfers Who Could Win
Tony Finau -25.828
The Index likes Tony Finau this weekend, and he’s been solid this time of year for the past two seasons. Finau won the Northern Trust in the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs last season and has won the 3M Open and the Rocket Mortgage Classic in the past month.
Finau’s win streak came to an end last week, but he still had a T5 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Finau is up to fifth in the FedEx Cup standings, so he is right in this thing.
Joo-Hyung Kim -31.321
It’s somewhat surprising that the Index likes Joo-Hyung Kim for the BMW Championship since he is ranked 26th in FedEx Cup standings, but also not really the way Kim has played lately.
The 20-year-old is absolutely on fire with a seventh-place finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, winning the Wyndham Championship, and finishing 13th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship the last three weekends.
Will Zalatoris -33.090
It’s no shocker that Will Zalatoris is one of the favorites for the weekend, as sometimes you just need that maiden PGA Tour victory to kind of break the seal on winning.
Zalatoris should be more relaxed in clutch situations now that he’s a Tour winner, plus he’s one for one with new caddie Joel Stock on the bag.
Xander Schauffele -37.148
Xander Schauffele could be flying under the radar this week after his 57th place finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, but that was also his first tournament in nearly a month after finishing 15th at the Open Championship.
Schauffele has knocked off some of his rust, and the Index likes him to get back in the groove and contend this weekend. This is a guy that won the Traveler’s Championship and then the Genesis Scottish Open two weeks later, so when he’s locked in, expect to find him near the top of the leaderboard.

Top 20 Finish: Sungjae Im (-115)
Im has turned it around after missing the cut at the U.S. Open and finishing in a tie for 81st at the Open Championship. His 12th place finish at the FedEx St. Jude was his third straight Top 20 finish that also included back-to-back ties for 2nd at the 3M Open and Wyndham Championship. Im ranks No. 5 in eagles (90.0 holes per) and No. 9 in greens in regulation percentage (70.42%).
Rated No. 9 in this week’s Dunkel Index, take Im (-115) to stay hot this week rack up another Top 20 finish.
Top 20 Finish: Cameron Young (-110)
Young is still chasing that elusive first Tour victory, but the 25-year-old is consistently putting himself in position to win. Prior to last week’s slight stumble to a tie for 31st at the FedEx St. Jude, he had three 2nds and two 3rds over eight tournaments. Young ranks No. 4 in driving distance (318.6) and No. 5 in birdie average (4.42).
Rated No. 4 in this week’s Dunkel Index, take Young (-110) to bounce back this week and finish in the Top 20.
Tournament Matchup: Tony Finau (-110) OVER Matt Fitzpatrick
Finau came up just short in his attempt to make it three straight tournament victories with his tie for 5th at the FedEx St. Jude last week. That followed consecutive wins at the 3M Open and Rocket Mortgage where the 32-year-old shot a combined 43-under-par. Finau ranks No. 5 in greens in regulation percentage (71.08%) and No. 12 in birdie average (4.22).
Fitzpatrick was right there with Finau as he tied for 5th at the FedEx St. Jude. It served as a nice bounce back from a disappointing tie for 21st at the Open Championship. He ranks No. 76 in greens in regulation percentage and No. 75 in birdie average (3.79).
With Finau rated No. 1 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Fitzpatrick at No. 7, these two should be in contention all week long, but take the more-consistent Finau (-110) to have the edge in this matchup in Wilmington.
