Baylor Bears at Texas Longhorns Betting Preview/Prop Pick

A pair of Top 25 teams are set to meet up on Monday night when the Texas Longhorns host the Baylor Bears. Both teams are locks to make the NCAA Tournament, and this game will simply be a chance to improve seeding. 

Baylor comes into this game having won three straight, including a monster win over the Kansas Jayhawks. The Bears have a chance to claim a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament with a strong finish to the year. 

Texas has won three of its last four games, and the Longhorns are starting to play like a team that can make a run in March. The Longhorns just picked up an impressive win over West Virginia on Saturday, and coming home could give them a boost. 

The Baylor Bears are one-point betting favorites over the Texas Longhorns in this Big 12 Conference showdown. 

Baylor Can Light it Up

The season statistics show that Baylor is scoring 77 points per game, but they have an offense that can be much more explosive. The Bears have a roster that is loaded with shooters, and they just hung 80 points on the Kansas Jayhawks this weekend.

Adam Flagler leads the team with 13.7 points per game, and James Akinjo has tallied 5.7 assists per game. Flagler and Akinjo are key pieces to this team, but there are other weapons as well. 

The Bears have also been a terrific defensive team as they are holding opponents to just 63 points per game. When Baylor is playing well, then they are a team that can beat anyone in the country. 

Texas Giving Teams Trouble on Defense

Texas does one thing extremely well this season, which has been their recipe for success. The Longhorns are giving up less than 59 points per game, and that defense will have to play well in this matchup.

This Texas defense is slightly different from what has been in place in recent years, as the Longhorns are no longer applying a ton of pressure. Chris Beard has his team playing solid pack line defense, and they simply make things difficult on each opponent.

Forward Timmy Allen leads the way with 12.4 points per game, and Marcus Carr has tallied over three assists per game. Allen and Carr are going to have to play well, but this entire roster will need to step up on Monday night. 

Bears Beat Up on Longhorns

There doesn’t seem to be a ton of separation between the two teams in this matchup, but Baylor is clearly the better offensive team. Texas is going to try and win this game on the defensive end of the floor, but that’s easier said than done.

The Longhorns just haven’t shot the ball well enough this season, and that could be a big problem on Monday night. Baylor looks like a team that is starting to round into championship form, and playing on the road isn’t going to be a massive challenge.

Don’t expect much separation throughout this game, but Baylor will pull away in the end. Bet the Baylor Bears -1.5 over the Texas Longhorns as the road team picks up an impressive road win in this game.
