Baylor Bears at Kansas Jayhawks Betting Preview

27 February 2021

The Kansas Jayhawks host the Baylor Bears on Saturday night in a huge matchup in the Big 12 Conference. Kansas has dominated this league over the past decade, but it is the Baylor Bears that are the best in the conference this season.

Baylor comes into this game with a record of 18-0, and they have hardly been challenged in many games this season. The Bears are going to win the Big 12 Conference, and they are one of the betting favorites to win the NCAA Championship.

Kansas has gone just 11-6 so far in conference action, which is well below their normal standards. The Jayhawks have been playing much better basketball of late, and they will be a team to keep your eye on in March.

The Baylor Bears are four-point favorites on the road in this matchup.

Baylor Can Really Defend

The Baylor Bears do everything really well, but the strength of this team is on the defensive end of the floor. Baylor is allowing just 63.3 points per game, and they have the ability to shut down even the best offensive teams.

On the offensive side of things, the Bears are scoring more than 86 points per game, third in the nation. Baylor has some terrific guards on their roster, and they have a number of players that can step up at any given time.

Jared Butler leads the way with 17.1 points per game, and he will likely be named an All-American at the end of the season. There are four other guards scoring at least eight points per game, and this team can really shoot the basketball.

Kansas Looking For Offense

Kansas is scoring just 73.6 points per game this season, and they have struggled to score against some of the best teams on their schedule. The Jayhawks are holding opponents to just 66 points per game, but they need more offense to open some games up.

Guard Ochai Ogbaji leads the team with 13.8 points per game, and he is shooting just under 39 percent from the three-point line. Forward David McCormack has chipped in with close to 13 points per game, and he has really stepped up his play of late.

Kansas will still play extremely hard and physically, but they are going to need to make some shots to earn a win.

Bears Crush Jayhawks

This has not been a typical season for the Kansas Jayhawks, but this is a team that can still make some noise in March. With that being said, Baylor is clearly the class of the Big 12 Conference this season and should reach the Final Four.

Kansas has really struggled to score all season long, and that is going to be a huge problem against a great defensive Baylor team. Baylor also has a strong offense to match, and those guards will take control of this matchup.

Kansas will keep this game close for a half, but the Jayhawks just don’t have the depth to make this a game for 40 minutes. Bet on the Baylor Bears to cover the four-point spread as they cruise to a double-digit win.
