Baylor Bears at Iowa State Cyclones Betting Preview
22 September 2022

The Big 12 Conference football season kicks off in Week 4, and there are a couple of big games on the schedule. The Iowa State Cyclones host the Baylor Bears in one of those games, and this one looks to be extremely tight on paper.
Baylor comes into this game ranked 17th in the country, and they are 2-1 on the year. The Bears suffered a loss to BYU on the road in Week 2, but they have blown out their other two opponents.
Iowa State is a perfect 3-0 on the year, and that includes a nice upset win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in Week 2. The Cyclones are usually a good pick in the Big 12 Conference, but this will be a chance for them to prove their worth in 2022.
The Iowa State Cyclones are slim one-point betting favorites over the Baylor Bears in this Big 12 Conference showdown on Saturday.
Baylor Won’t Slow Down
The Baylor Bears come into Week 4 averaging nearly 44 points per game this season, and they are getting it done with a balanced attack. Baylor running back Richard Reese has already found the end zone five times, and that rushing attack can set the tone.
Quarterback Blake Shapen is also having a nice year for the Bears as he has thrown four touchdowns to just one interception. Baylor is a team that wants to win games by playing fast, but that won’t be easy to do against Iowa State.
The defense of Baylor has been the biggest story, as they have played well in all three games in 2022. If the Bears continue to play great defense, then they will be hard to beat in the Big 12.
Cyclones Getting it Done on Defense
Iowa State has been solid on offense to begin the 2022 season, but they continue to win games with that defense. The Cyclones are holding opponents to just 9.0 points per game, and they have completely shut down the rushing attack for their opponents.
This team is allowing just 60 rushing yards per game, but they will face their biggest test of the season in Baylor. It’s not likely that Iowa State completely shuts down the Bears, and the offense will have to do its part as well.
Quarterback Hunter Dekkers is having a big year for the Cyclones as he has thrown eight touchdowns to just three interceptions through three weeks.
Bears Able to Control the Cyclones
Iowa State has been able to win nonconference games with their terrific defense, but things won’t be as easy in the Big 12 Conference. This is a league that is loaded with some great offensive teams, and it’s hard to see the Cyclones finding a way to keep up in this matchup.
Baylor could easily be 3-0 on the season if it wasn’t for a bad overtime series against BYU, and they remain one of the better teams in the league. This game will be tight since it is being played in the state of Iowa, but the Bears are going to make enough plays to win.
Bet the Baylor Bears moneyline as they are able to go on the road to Iowa State and pick up an impressive and important victory.
