Saturday, January 01st Baylor Bears @ Iowa State Cyclones

This NCAAB matchup is going to be a ton of fun to watch on Saturday. The No.1 team in college basketball, the Baylor Bears, face off against No.8 Iowa State.

Baylor is a huge favorite in this game, and it definitely makes sense. They've had an incredible season so far, not losing a single game this year. Can the 12-0 team increase their record to 13-0? Or is there an upset brewing?

The Iowa State Cyclones might have to jump through some hoops for this upset to happen. However, we can't forget that the Cyclones are a really good team as well. They come into this game as 7.5-point underdogs but are also 12-0 this year.

Don't write the Cyclones of just yet; they've gone 5-5 ATS in their last ten against Baylor. Let's take a look at each individual team.

Baylor Bears: Including last season, Baylor has won 18 straight

The Bears have picked up their season right where they left off. Their win streak started to end the year last year, and now they've accumulated 18 straight games. One of the most stand-out statistics for Baylor is their ability to pass the ball.

On average, the Bears average 19.7 assists per game, ranking No.5 in college football. This ability to find open players has led to victory.

Baylor has been pretty incredible at the sportsbook as well. Baylor has an 8-3-1 ATS record but is 1-0 ATS on the road. This is just their second road game of the year, and it's against another 12-0 team. Rebounding will also play a large role in this game; if Baylor controls the boards, they control the game. Our main concern is whether they can cover a 7.5-point spread on Saturday.

Iowa State Cyclones: The Cyclones look to end Baylor's streak

Iowa State is hoping to add a loss to the Baylor Bears record. If they can pull it off, they'll likely move up a few spots in the AP. Beating Baylor isn't going to be an easy task, and the Cyclones will need help from their leading scorer.

Guard Izaiah Brockington averages 16.9 points per game, but he won't be able to do it on his own. All of his teammates need to play a larger role.

An interesting trend to note is that in four of the Cyclones' last five games, the total has gone under. This bodes well for them covering the spread here. If the total stays under, it's likely that the game will stay pretty close as well.

To keep the game close, the Cyclones need to prevent Baylor from crashing the boards. Eliminating second-chance points keeps this game close.

Our pick for the Baylor Bears at the Iowa State Cyclones

With such a large spread, we wonder how the Bears will perform on the road. Their first road game was against an unranked Oregon, and they won 78-70.

Iowa State is a much better team than Oregon, so we think this one will be close. That being said, we'll take the Cyclones +7.5 to win this one.

Iowa State has gone 4-1 against the spread in their last five games. They're also 9-0 in their last nine games at home. We think they're going to give the Baylor Bears a tough fight on Saturday.

Take the Cyclones here, +7.5 and the under.
