Bass Pro Shops Night Race Betting Preview

15 September 2023 By Cole Paganelli

Two spots in the Round of 12 are taken, with Tyler Reddick (279.965) winning at Kansas, joining Kyle Larson (280.685) atop the Cup Series driver's standings and into the next round. Reddick’s last-lap pass for the win shuffled Denny Hamlin (280.152) to second, with Erik Jones, Larson, and Team Penske’s Joey Logano rounding out the top five.

Reddick and Larson are expected to continue their impressive recent performances on a track where they’ve both had recent success. The NASCAR Cup Series returns to Bristol’s concrete surface for the final race in the Round of 16, and the Dunkel Index has complied our best bets for Saturday’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race.

Will Byron Advance and Join Larson in the Round of 12?

Hendrick Motorsports Championship hopes rest on William Byron (279.199) and Kyle Larson, while Chase Elliott (283.342) is expected to be in the mix for the win at Bristol.

Larson won at Bristol in 2021 and has nine top-ten finishes in 14 Cup Series races on the concrete short track. Having secured a second top-five finish in the playoffs, finishing fourth at Kansas, Larson heads into the final race of the Round of 16 with a six-point lead over Tyler Reddick in the Championship standings.

William Byron opened the playoffs as a co-top seed but finished 15th at Kansas, dropping to fourth in the Cup Series playoff standings. Byron has two top-five and three top-ten finishes in his last four races at Bristol and will be in the mix to win his way into the Round of 12.

Evaluating the Top Toyotas

Denny Hamlin (280.152) represents one of Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota’s best chances to win the Cup Series Championship. Hamlin has two career wins at Bristol (2012, 2019) and two top-ten finishes in the previous four races.

Christopher Bell (282.420) won the Spring Dirt Race and is coming off an eighth-place finish at Kansas. Bell has one top-five and two top-ten finishes in his career on Bristol’s concrete surface and could be among the top five in the final laps.

Martin Truex Jr. (282.196) needs to win this race to advance to the Round of 16. However, the former co-top seed has had three consecutive bad outings and is on the verge of being eliminated from the playoffs. However, he’s in tough as in 32 career races at Bristol, Truex has two top-five and four top-ten finishes.

23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick has finished in the top two in both Cup Series playoff races. Reddick will be in the mix at the front again, having one top-five finish in his last four races at Bristol, finishing second in Bristol’s Spring Dirt Race.

RFK Racing

Chris Buescher (283.775) won this race in 2022 and has two top-ten finishes in his last four trips to Bristol. Despite finishing 27th at Kansas, Buescher has been very fast and successful recently, with four top-three and five top-ten finishes in the last seven races.

Brad Keselowski (282.920) won the Fall race at Bristol in 2011 and has three wins, six top-five, and eight top-ten finishes in 24 career races on the concrete short track. Keselowski has three consecutive top-ten finishes and will likely be in the lead pack attempting to win his way into the Round of 12.
