Barracuda Championship Betting Preview

28 July 2020

The golf championship that is formerly known as the Reno-Tahoe Open will take place this weekend. The Barracuda Championship, which has been around since 1999 will be played. The purse for this event is more than $3M, with the winner taking down over $600K. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite betting picks for the weekend’s action.

Russell Henley +1800

The 31 year old from Macon Georgia has never reached a Top 10 in a major on the PGA Tour, but has been knocking on the door. He has 3 wins on the PGA Tour. Henley is coming off a missed cut at the 3M Championship,, but looks to make a big bounce back in an event, where he is not competing against the elite golfers.

Ryan Moore +1600

Moore was impressive at the 3M with a 12th place finish. He shot -14 for the weekend, and a -3 on the final day. Moore also made the cut at the Memorial, but finished in a tie for 40th. Moore has been on the PGA Tour since 2005, so his experience could come into place at this event. Moore has 5 PGA Tour wins, and has finished inside the Top 10, twice in major championships.

Jhonattan Vegas +2800

Vegas is coming off a missed cut at the 3M Open, at -1. Vegas also missed cut at the Workday Charity Open. He has some work to do to get his game back into shape. The Venezuelan went to the University of Texas, and has now been on tour for over a decade. His 6 professional wins is among the most for the players at this event. Vegas has peaked to as high as the 35th ranked player in the world.

Alex Noren +2500

Noren was tremendous last weekend in Minneapolis. Noren finished the final round at -5, and went -16 for the weekend. The winner came away with -19. Before that, Noren missed the cut at both the Rocket Mortgage and Memorial. He will look to win his first win in the United STates, after 10 on the European Tour, and 2 on the Asian Tour. Noren broke onto the American scene with his 6th place finish back in 2017 at the Open Championship.

Others to Consider

Cameron Tringale +4000

The 32 year old from California continues to improve. He was great last weekend in Minnesota. He looks to take that momentum into this event. The former Georgia Tech golfer has peaked to as high as 55th in the world rankings.

Mattias Schwab +2800

Schwab finished 32 last weekend in Minnesota. The event before, many thought he would be able to make a move at the Memorial, and he missed the cut. The Austria native has only played in a handful of American events. Schwab has been in professional golf since 2017 after his playing days at Vanderbilt.

Scott Stallings +4500

Stallings started well at the 3M, but then went back to back poor rounds to finish the event at -3, and tied for 62nd. Stallings, the former Tennessee Tech golfer is 35 years old, so his experience could play a factor in this event. He has 3 wins on the PGA Tour, but has not finished in the Top 25 at any major to this point in his career

Emiliano Grillo +3300

Another guy coming off a a nice weekend in Minnesota. Grillo finished 3rd, which was a breath of fresh air after his +10 at the Memorial. Grillo is just 27 years old, and from Argentina, many still do not realize the talent this kid has. It will be fun to see him challenge other guys near his ability level. Look for him to be near the top of the leaderboard when it’s all said and done.

We look forward to not one but TWO golf events this weekend. We hope you enjoy the Barracuda Championship, and this article helps you along the way when betting on the event!
