Baltimore Orioles at Chicago White Sox Betting Preview/Prop Picks

23 June 2022

This matchup will be a big one for the Baltimore Orioles, who have a 31-39 record this season. Yesterday, the Orioles were able to beat the Washington Nationals 7-0. Today, they'll look to keep that energy going as they face the White Sox.

With each of these teams attempting to rise up in the American League, every win is vital. So, how can the Orioles take down Chicago?

Before that, the White Sox are coming off of a 2-1 series win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Although they lost the final game, the White Sox were able to get two key wins over a great team. They can use this momentum to fuel them against the Orioles tonight.

The White Sox are third in the AL Central with a record of 33-34. They'll look to hit the .500 mark in tonight's game.

Baltimore Orioles: Kremer will get the nod to start tonight

The RHP Dean Kremer will get the start for the Orioles tonight. Kremer has a record of 1-1 this season, having only pitched 15.1 innings. He's pretty fresh considering who his opponent is but still boasts an ERA of 2.35.

We'll have to see how long the Orioles will have him on the mound tonight. It could be a quick one if he gives up too many runs, but we don't expect to see that.

The Orioles have won four of their last six games this season. As they work to improve their record, pitching will play a large role in that. Unfortunately, Baltimore struggles at the plate, ranking 26th in MLB with a batting average of .231.

This could be a problem as they face the White Sox. However, with who Chicago has on the mound, the Orioles could be in for a break.

Chicago White Sox: Pitching might be a big problem for Chicago

One of the most important areas of the game is pitching. Tonight, the White Sox will send out Johnny Cueto, who has a 1-3 record this season.

Although Cueto has a losing record, he has an ERA of 2.95 over the course of 42.2 innings. On the surface, Cueto's losses could be credited to his team's performance. Still, his losing record is something to keep an eye on.

At the plate, the White Sox do quite a bit better than the Orioles. As a team, the White Sox have a batting average of .255, ranking fourth in Major League Baseball.

They rank 22nd overall in runs with a total of 287 this season. After their series against the Blue Jays, plenty of people have faith in the White Sox. So, between these two teams, who's the better pick for tonight?

Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Pick

Although the White Sox might seem like the clear winner, especially in terms of odds, we like the Orioles. In Kremer's last three starts, two games have resulted in wins for the Orioles.

On the other side, the last three games for Cueto have all resulted in losses. Whether that's due to Cueto's pitching or the rest of the bullpen isn't necessarily important.

The fact is, the White Sox have a bullpen and rotation that has struggled this season. The Orioles can take advantage of this and get runs across the plate early. From there, they can attempt to hold off the White Sox and win the game.
