There have been a lot of proverbial alarm bells going off in the St. Louis clubhouse this year, but last night it was literally a fire alarm that confronted the Redbirds. For the second straight night, the Cardinals had a rookie pitcher carry a no-hitter deep into the game. But before Austin Gomber could take the mound in the bottom of the seventh inning, the fire alarm at Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park went off causing a delay for several minutes. Of course, when Gomber was finally able to resume pitching, he promptly lost the no-hitter. Luckily this time, the Cards did not lose the game as well as Dexter Fowler hit a two-run HR in the 11th to beat the Reds, 4-2.
