SEC rivals meet up on Saturday as the Ole Miss Rebels are hosting the Alabama Crimson Tide in a Top 15 showdown. The SEC West race is still wide open, but Alabama and Ole Miss can’t afford to pick up another loss.
Alabama comes into this game with an overall record of 7-2, and they have actually lost two of their last three games. The Crimson Tide just suffered an overtime loss to LSU, and they had a big drop in the rankings.
Ole Miss has kind of flown under the radar this season despite bringing a 7-1 record into this game. The Rebels were blown out by LSU earlier this season, but they have been able to bounce back and win some games.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are 11.5-point betting favorites in this SEC showdown on Saturday afternoon.
Alabama Must Defend
Alabama head coach Nick Saban can’t be happy with his defense after that unit allowed 32 points in the road loss at LSU. The secondary has become a major problem for this team, and they are going to be tested by a good passing attack of Ole Miss.
Alabama also must find a way to run the football better to take some of the pressure off of quarterback Bryce Young. The Crimson Tide are rushing for 200 yards per game, but they will need to establish the run to open up the passing game.
Young has been able to step up and deliver for his team all season long, but he can’t keep trying to win games on his own.
Ole Miss Wants to Score
The offensive numbers for Ole Miss this season have been impressive, as they are racking up nearly 500 total yards per game. Ole Miss doesn’t have a defense that can just take over a game, and they will have to win this one on offense.
Quarterback Jaxson Dart has thrown for 1,911 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, but he still makes some mistakes. Running back Quinshon Judkins is one of the best in the country, as he has racked up 1,036 yards and 13 touchdowns this season.
The Ole Miss defense simply has to do its part, especially when it comes to the secondary.
Crimson Tide Cruise to Victory
Alabama doesn’t appear to have a good shot at reaching the College Football Playoff this season, but Nick Saban won’t let his team quit. Alabama is going to come out focused in this game, and that could spell some serious trouble for the Rebels.
Ole Miss wants to try and win this game by playing fast and scoring points, but that just doesn’t work against Alabama. Look for the Crimson Tide defense to come up big in this game, and things will start to get out of hand in the second half.
