Joe Gibbs Racing-Toyota’s Martin Truex Jr. conquered the Monster Mile at Dover to get his second win this season - including the preseason Clash at the Coliseum. Trackhouse Racing-Chevorlet’s Ross Chastain (258.353) overtook Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell for the Drivers’ Championship lead finishing second and scoring points for a stage two win.

NASCAR moves from the concrete of Dover, heading to the asphalt of the Kansas Speedway for the AdventHealth 400: a track where Toyota has been very successful.

Kansas Speedway is Toyota Country

A Toyota has landed on Victory Lane in the last three races and four of the previous six Spring races, holding seven of the ten Spring race wins at Kanas Speedway. As such, five of the Dunkel Index favorites to win the AdventHealth 400 are in Toyota rides.

Joe Gibbs Racing has three drivers in the mix to win this weekend, and two of those drivers have won this race before.

Denny Hamlin (257.465) is one of three drivers who have won the Spring stop at Kansas twice, winning in 2012 and 2020. In his last six races at Kansas, Hamlin has one race win and five top-five finishes, with an average finishing position of 6.5.

Hamlin’s teammate Martin Truex Jr. (255.09) will look for back-to-back wins this week in Kansas. Truex Jr. won the Spring race at Kansas in 2017 and has six top-ten finishes in his last six trips to Kansas City.

Christopher Bell (254.3) has two top-five and four top-ten finishes in his last six races at Kansas and has eight top-ten finishes this season.

We also like 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace (256.79) and Tyler Reddick (257.775) as potential Toyota longshots to win this weekend.

The Chevrolet Contenders

Chevorlet’s last win at Kansas was in 2015. The potential contenders include the usual contingent of Hendrick Motorsports drivers and perenially favorite Kyle Busch.

Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch (257.91) won the 2016 and 2021 Kansas Spring races. He has three top-five finishes in his last six trips to Kansas.

The Dunkel Index is favoring William Byron (255.926) and Chase Elliott (254.382) from the Hendrick Motorsports team. Byron has five top-ten finishes in his last six races at Kansas, while Elliott has top-top fives and three top-ten finishes.

Favoring and Fading Fords

Ford has had some recent success at the Spring race in Kansas recently but has won in 2018 and 2019, with previous Spring race winners at Kansas winners Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick (2018) and RFK Racing’s Brad Keselowski (2011, 2022) among the Fords vying for the win.

However, we’re fading most of the Fords, including all three Team Penske drivers, including Ryan Blaney (257.570), who we’re still unimpressed with his performances this season.
