Golfers That Could Win
Webb Simpson has excellent odds to win here, despite being an underdog. In an event like this, he will have to be perfect.
He won here in 2020 and was runner up in 2017. Looking at his last 24 rounds at this event, he ranks third among the best in strokes gained.
Patrick Cantlay, the fourth best in the world, takes another opportunity after coming in close at fourth at the AT&T Pebble Beach last week. He usually builds a great position within the top 10 for events, but has not had any luck securing a win in 2022 yet.
Potential Winning Pick
Viktor Hovland (-17.846) is playing some high quality golf lately compared to the field. If things continue in his favor, he could be the new world number one.
He missed the cut for this event back in 2020 but he had just turned pro. Since that time, he has six titles worldwide.
To add more interest to his name, he has won the last three out of five events he has played in. He will be determined to land his first PGA victory in the US, as the other wins have been elsewhere.

Head-To-Head: Seamus Power (+100) Over Webb Simpson
Power couldn’t seal the deal at the AT&T Pebble Beach despite having a five-stroke lead at the midway point, but still finished with his third Top 10 finish of the season.
Simpson has played only one tournament in ’22, finishing in a tie for 61st at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
With Power rated No. 9 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Simpson at No. 22, take the rising Irish pro (+100) to get the better of the former US Open champ.
Head-To-Head: Scottie Scheffler (-110) Over Xander Schauffele
Still the top-ranked player without a Tour victory, Scheffler continued to knock on the door with a tie for 20th at Torrey Pines two weeks ago.
Schauffele has been a little erratic in the early going and ranks just 111th in driving accuracy (60.71%) and greens in regulation percentage (69.44%). He’s coming off a tie for 34th at Torrey Pines.
With Scheffler rated No. 5 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Schauffele No. 17, take Scheffler (-110) to continue his pursuit of that elusive victory and finish ahead of Schauffele.
Head-To-Head: Billy Horschel (-110) Over Matt Fitzpatrick
After almost not playing in the Farmers Insurance Open because of neck and shoulder pain, Horschel took the first round lead with a 63 before settling for a tie for 11th.
Fitzpatrick is coming off a tie for 6th at Pebble Beach, but hasn’t played back-to-back PGA tournaments since November when he finished in a tie for 64th at Mayakoba.
With Horschel rated No. 8 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Fitzpatrick No. 11, both should be on the leaderboard in Phoenix, but give Horschel (-110) the edge in this matchup.
Head-To-Head: Denny McCarthy (-110) Over Max Homa
McCarthy followed up his tie for 6th at the Farmers Insurance with a tie for 12th at Pebble Beach. His hot start has him ranked No. 5 in scoring average (69.734).
The start has not been quite as hot for Homa, who missed the cut at Torrey Pines and is tied for 114th in scoring average (71.298).
With McCarthy rated No. 16 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Homa No. 37, take McCarthy (-110) to continue his hot start and finish ahead of Homa this weekend.
