2022 Presidents Cup Betting Preview

21 September 2022

The Presidents Cup is back after being delayed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it's back on American soil at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The tournament begins on Thursday, September 22nd, and concludes on Sunday, September 25th. Originally planned for 2021, the Presidents Cup was pushed back a year after the Ryder Cup was postponed in 2020.

The American Team has dominated the biannual event since it began in 1994, winning 11 of the first 13 tournaments. The lone International Team victory came in 1998, and the two teams tied five years later in 2003.

Format for the Presidents Cup follows closely to Ryder Cup play with fourball and foursome matches and singles matches on the final day of play. There are 30 points available, with one point awarded to the match winners and a half point for ties. To win the Presidents Cup, a team needs to garner 15.5 points.

The Course

The Quail Hollow Club is hosting the Presidents Cup for the first time and will present a challenge for competitors with its difficulty and length. The par-71 can surpass 7,500 yards and features mature, tree-lined fairways along with fast and firm greens.

Quail Hollow is the annual host of the Wells Fargo Championship and hosted the 2017 PGA Championship, and will host again in 2015. The 16-18th holes are known as the “Green Mile,” and the course will be re-routed for tournament play to make sure each match goes through the course’s signature holes.

Prop Pick

Top Point Scorer: Justin Thomas +900

Thomas seems to find another competitive gear during team tournament play, and the two-time major winner will do it again this week for the American Team. Thomas sports a nifty 12-4-3 record in two Ryder Cups and two Presidents Cup competitions.
