Track: Sonoma Raceway
Betting Overview
A lot of drivers thoroughly enjoy racing at tracks like this one. This specific race is a 2.52 mile long road track.
Road tracks have been very kind to a handful of drivers this year and over the last five years. More specifically, they have been very kind to Chase Elliot, Martin Truex Jr., and Kevin Harvick.
This particular race was also not held in 2020. This means that Martin Truex Jr. is still the two-time defending champion.
Head to Head Matchup to Watch
Kyle Larson (116.688) and Chase Elliott (121.157) make an interesting duo to watch battle it out. Every betting market you look at, and these two are neck and neck for the top spot.
It will be intriguing to see how Elliot responds. He typically has driven well at this course and similar ones but has not been the same this year.

Drivers That Could Win
Kurt Busch (133.587) has had a great history driving here but still without a win. Dating back to 2011, he has averaged a 6.4 finish with never placing worse than 13th overall. However, he has not placed within the top 13 since February of this year.
Kyle Larson (116.688) is coming off a great performance at the Coca-Cola 600 and has done well at this specific track over the years. Could he have enough momentum to get the job done here?
It would be very hard to ignore Chase Elliott (121.157) here and his ability to drive. He has a second-place finish behind Larson in last week’s race and has his first win of the season about two weeks ago.
Potential Winning Pick
Martin Truex Jr. (114.027) is definitely going to be the driver to watch here. The two-time defending champ will attempt to make it three straight.
Looking at what he has done in his last five road courses, non-Rovals and excluding COTA, he has three victories and two-second place finishes. He arguably has the most experienced resume heading into this race and makes a very strong case to take a third victory.
Prop Play
Best Finishing Position: Joey Logano (-134) Over Ryan Blaney
Logano finished a disappointing 17th last week at Charlotte when an unscheduled pit stop on lap 320 cost him. For most of the race, however, he ran in or near the Top 10 and it followed two solid weeks where he finished 3rd at COTA and 5th at Dover.
Ironically, Logano helped Blaney pick up his 5th Cup victory in Atlanta this year when his lapped car forced Kyle Larson to slow down just enough for Blaney to pass him with less than 10 laps remaining. But the No. 12 car has not matched that effort in recent weeks and has been outside the Top 10 in his last 3 races.
With Logano rated No. 9 and Blaney No. 11 in the Dunkel Index, we’ll take Logano (-134) to return the favor this week at Sonoma and finish ahead of Blaney.
