Golfers That Could Win
Louis Oosthuizen (-32.690) has a tendency to be under the radar. Oddly enough, he looks to be a solid pick to win that no one is talking about. Do not be surprised if he places in the top 10.
Sung-jae Im (-29.640) might be the best bag for your buck pick here. Looking at his last eight rounds at this event, he leads the field in tee to green, off the tee, and ball striking. In addition, he put up quite a lot of birdies last season, which should bode well for him here.
Scottie Scheffler (-30.286) also had a good run in the Ryder Cup. His performance there, in addition to recent success, could showcase a red hot showing.
Potential Winning Pick
Harris English (-27.846) had a good performance in the Ryder Cup and has the potential to carry over that momentum here. Even though it was not a lot of points, he contributed to the team's dominance.
Looking ahead, English's best results here were a fourth-place finish. With his recent performances and past success, he makes a good case to win the Shriners Children's Open.
Prop Plays
Top 20 Finish: Harris English (-110)
It’s been quite a couple of weeks for English. First, he helped the US team capture the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits. Then last weekend he appeared on College Gameday as their guest picker.
Of course, the Bulldog alum picked Georgia to beat Arkansas and was rewarded with a 37-0 victory. It’s been that kind of roll for the 32-year-old, who picked up two PGA Tour wins last year at the Travelers Championship and Sentry Tournament of Champions.
Rated No. 1 in this week’s Dunkel Index, English is certainly worth a flyer (+2500) to win it all. But we’ll also take the Georgian (-110) to be somewhere on the leaderboard and finish in the Top 20.
Top 40 Finish: Corey Conners (-165)
We took Conners last week for a Top 20 finish as the Sanderson Farms Championship and he squeaked in with a tie for 17th.
Conners has been leading a wave of strong Canadian players and was knocking on the door last year at the majors as he was in contention in the Masters and held the first-round lead at the PGA Championship.
Rated No. 2 in this week’s Dunkel Index, we’ll go with Conners (-165) again in a majors-caliber field to finish in the Top 40.
