2021 NASCAR All-Star Open and All-Star Race Betting Preview/Prop Plays

12 June 2021

NASCAR only has ten more races available in the season for drivers to compete for points in the Cup Series. Before this takes place, the next events occurring are the All-Star Open and the All-Star Race, occurring on the same night.

Even though this race does not have much effect on how the Cup Series turns out, it gives a view for bettors to see how each driver competes against the best. Overall, it allows the drivers to have fun and to have bragging rights.

Race Details
Date: Sun, June 13, 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM
Watch on: FS1
Track: Texas Motor Speedway

Betting Overview

There are a little over 22 drivers competing in the All-Star race and the All-Star Open. Each race has their own characteristics.

The All-Star Race has six rounds with a total of 100 laps. There are bonuses too, such as the crew with the fastest pit stop winning $100,000.

The All-Star Open has it separated into three different sections. It will be 20 laps, another 20, and then capping off with 10. The overall winner will advance to the All-Star Race.

Head to Head Matchup to Watch

Erik Jones (126.401) and Chris Buescher (126.996) will be compelling to watch for the All-Star Open. Kyle Larson    (116.688) and Alex Bowman (119.570) are other situations to check out for the All-Star Race.

Drivers That Could Win

Kyle Busch (121.599) has had a lot of success at Texas. In fact, he has a tendency to land a top 10 here and makes this a competitive opportunity.

Tyler Reddick (127.685) has had a solid season, and it will be interesting to watch him perform here. He has previous success in Texas but also has a solid streak heading into this one.

Kyle Larson (116.688) won this event in 2019 and has had a great 2021 season so far. When looking at this, it makes Larson a compelling pick to look at here.

Potential Winning Pick

Chase Elliott (120.193) is a solid choice to win the All-Star Race. Elliott won this event in 2020, and he could have a jolt in his season if he were to win a fun event like this one.

Erik Jones (126.401) is another top contender to win this event. Between him and Elliott, they both make a great pair to win out each event and to impress fans.

Prop Plays

Driver To Advance To All-Star Race: Tyler Reddick (-118)

Three drivers have a chance to advance to the main event by racing in the All-Star Open, which takes place just prior to the big race. The winners of the first two segments along with the overall winner will advance.

Reddick won the pole position by virtue of having the most points (13th) among the drivers who did not automatically qualify for the All-Star Race.

In only his second year in the NASCAR Cup Series, the 25-year-old continues to impress. He has finished in the Top 10 in 8 of the 16 events he’s raced and is on pace to top his rookie total of 9. Reddick matched his career-best finish of 2nd earlier this year at Miami-Homestead and three weeks ago won the Busch Pole Award at COTA.

Rated No. 3 in the Dunkel Index, we’ll take Reddick (-118) to find a way to advance to the All-Star Race.

Top 5 Finish In All-Star Race: Denny Hamlin (+125)

While it’s been a pretty quiet season so far by Hamlin’s high standards, the No. 11 car continues to rack up Top 10 finishes. He added an 8th last week at Sonoma following a 7th two weeks ago at Charlotte.

That makes 12 Top 10 finishes in 16 races with 9 of those finishing in the Top 5. And while Hamlin doesn’t have any wins yet, he continues to lead the field in points with 664. His consistency has been enough to keep him in front of 3-time winner Kyle Larson in the standings.

Hamlin picked up a win in the All-Star Race in 2015 and has had success at Texas Motor Speedway in the past with a 1st in 2019 and 3rd in 2017. Rated No. 5 in the Dunkel Index, we’ll take Hamlin and his consistency at a good price (+125) to finish in the Top 5 of the All-Star Race.

It looks like we are in for a close and exciting race. Keep up with your latest NASCAR news coverage and betting pick previews with The Dunkel Index.
