2021 Houston Open Betting Preview
09 November 2021
The next PGA event shows a lot of promise for underdog golfers to take this one by storm. In fact, last year's winner, Carlos Ortiz, is not even close to being favored to win.
Looking at the field, this could be anyone's event if they are able to make putts and keep shots accurate. However, a handful of names do come to mind to keep within your top golfers to win.
Date: Nov 11–14, 2021
Course: Memorial Park Golf Course
Watch on: GOLF
This will be the second year that this course will be used for this event. It was recently renovated in 2020, with some input from Brooks Koepka.
Looking at top golfers to play here, Kopeka, Tyrrell Hatton, and Sam Burns are the only golfers inside the top 20 of the world rankings competing. In addition, the Houston Open has historically had close battles within a few shots leading up to the last few holes each year.
Head to Head Matchup to Watch
Sam Burns (-22.445) and Matthew Wolff (-29.510) are two of the hottest golfers right now with their recent play. Burns is a favorite among many betting markets to win this event.
Wolff is only 22 years old but has played like a professional against tough competition lately. Both names are surely going to be in contention.

Golfers That Could Win
Matthew Wolff (-29.510) has three impressive starts to this season. He has a 17th place finish at Sanderson but finished second at the Shriners Open and placed fifth recently at the Mayakoba Classic.
Carlos Ortiz (-34.295) makes a great case for the underdog pick here. First, he is the returning champion for this event. Second, he is coming off of a second-place finish at the Mayakoba Classic last week against some other top-name golfers.
Patrick Reed (-35.882) is another name to consider for someone outside of the favorites to win. As the 22nd best golfer in the world, he has been back and forth in recent play with a second-place tie at Bermuda, and then the next event having a 56th finish at Mayakoba.
Potential Winning Pick
Sam Burns (-22.445) has two recent wins on the TOUR this year. These were at the Valspar Championship back in May and the Sanderson Farms event just last month in October.
Before his second win, he had a playoff loss for runner-up in the WGC-FedEx St. Jude back in August. In addition to his world golf ranking at 19th, his competitive play certainly has moved his stock up.
