2021 Charles Schwab Challenge Betting Preview/Prop Plays

Fort Worth, Texas, is host to the upcoming PGA Tour event, the Charles Schwab Challenge. Many golfers will be attending this somewhat tough field, along with betting favorites that enjoy this course.
Jordan Spieth, who looked much better in a recent play, will be competing in his home state and is arguably a betting favorite. Some other top names include Justin Thomas and Abraham Ancer that could steal the show.

Betting Overview
Looking back at when the PGA Tour reopened, this was the first tournament upon the restart back in June of last year. Some surprises heading into this tournament would be Phil Mickelson, who has two victories here, is heading into this one coming off of an outstanding performance victory at the PGA Championship.
Head to Head Matchup to Watch
Jordan Spieth (-19.619) and Collin Morikawa (-22.718)
make a great pair to see competing. Spieth won here back in 2016 and has a great shot to place well here.
Morikawa looks to capitalize on his last performance here. This was a runner up while competing in a playoff with winner Daniel Berger.

Golfers That Could Win
Tony Finau (26.522) has had mixed results in his last two events. Last year he showed the 23rd placing while 2019 had him coming in at second.
Finau has also shown some success this year that makes him a solid candidate. He has six top 10’s, which include three runner up finishes, and he is currently the 13th best golfer in the world rankings.
Collin Morikawa was another player that has some momentum heading into this event. On top of him having a nail biter finish here last year, he has another great opportunity to be very close to winning once again.
Morikawa recently came in eighth place at the PGA Championship with a score of -1. However, this was after a very solid final day of play where he went -4, which is also the third best score on the day.
Potential Winning Pick
Tony Finau (26.522), in his last two years here, has been within the top three for strokes gained off the tee. He also ranked first recently in strokes gained around the green at last week’s event.
In addition, Finau ranks as the 10th best at strokes gained approach this year. He is definitely a great value pick that could finally nail a win here.
Prop Plays
Top 20 Finish: Will Zalatoris (+120)
Zalatoris showed up on everybody's radar following a 2nd place finish at The Masters. He followed that up last week with an 8th place finish at the PGA Championship. Along with a tie for 6th at last year's US Open, that's three Top 10 finishes in the last three majors.
In between, the 24-year-old out of Wake Forest has had plenty of strong finishes, including a 10th at the Arnold Palmer, 15th at the Genesis Invitational and 17th at the Byron Nelson. Overall, Zalatoris has finished in the Top 25 in 13 of the 19 tournaments he’s played.
Long off the tee (24th in driving distance) and accurate around the greens (13th in greens in regulation), this rising star is still looking for his first Tour victory. It may come this weekend. But rated No. 16 in the Dunkel Index, we’ll go with the safer play and take Zalatoris (+120) to finish in the Top 20.
Top 30 Finish: Kevin Streelman (+120)
Getting a cold shoulder from Phil Mickelson after the PGA didn’t overshadow the fact that Streelman was a major surprise at Kiawah. Getting within a shot of Phil on Sunday, the 42-year-old out of Duke faded down the end to a 75 and a tie for 8th.
The two-time Tour winner has been consistent for the most part this season, finishing 13th at AT&T Pebble Beach, 22nd at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and 26th at the Wells Fargo. He makes up for a lack of length off the tee (116th in driving distance) with a solid touch around the greens (20th in greens in regulation).
That accuracy should help Streelman navigate the difficult doglegs and tight fairways at Colonial. Rated No. 26 in the Dunkel Index, we’ll take Streelman to follow up his strong PGA performance with a Top 30 finish this week.
Top 40 Finish: Brandt Snedeker (+150)
Snedeker wasn’t in the PGA field, but prior to that had been putting together a strong season. He finished 17th at the Byron Nelson the week before, which was his third Top 20 finish in his last five events.
The 40-year-old from Vanderbilt has fared well at the Colonial with a 19th place finish in his most recent appearance (2019). He has made the cut in each of his last five attempts with one Top 5 finish and an average positions of 26th.
Rated No. 13 in the Dunkel Index, we’ll be more cautious with Snedeker and get him at plus-money (+150) to finish in the Top 40.
