Even when the offense isn't clicking, the Baylor Bears (22-1) have shown an ability to win games while relying on one of the nation's best defenses. That was evident on Monday when the Bears shot just 34 percent from the field, but still managed to pull out a 52-45 victory at Texas. The victory extended the program's historic winning streak to 22 games and set up a Big 12 showdown today with the West Virginia Mountaineers (18-6). Bob Huggins' team looked well on its way to knocking off Kansas on Wednesday, but the Mountaineers were held scoreless for a five minute stretch late and let a nine-point lead midway through the second half slip away in a 58-49 loss in Morgantown. The NY Islanders (33-17-6) opened a four-game road trip with a shaky effort on Thursday in their 5-0 loss at Nashville. It wasn't reflective of how the Isles have been playing of late, though, as they came into the contest having scored at least four goals in four of the previous five games and are now 5-2-1 in their last eight. New York will try to bounce back tonight as the Islanders continue their road tip in Vegas against the Golden Knights (29-22-8), who snapped a mini two-game skid with a 6-5 win over the Blues on Thursday.
