Alex Ovechkin has a chance to join a rare club tonight as he attempts to become just the eighth player in NHL history to record 700 goals. Ovechkin failed in his last attempt to get past 698 as he was held without a point on Saturday during the Washington Capitals' 7-2 loss to Philadelphia. Ovechkin and the Caps (36-14-5) will try to rebound tonight as they host the NY Islanders (31-16-6) and their former coach, Barry Trotz. Face off is 7:00 p.m. EST at Capital One Arena. The Toronto Raptors (39-14) own the longest winning streak in the NBA at 14 straight and will try to keep that alive heading into the All-Star break as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves (16-35) tonight. The Raptors barely survived the Brooklyn Nets, 119-118, on Saturday as they had to play without All-Star guard Kyle Lowry (whiplash). The Timberwolves shook up the roster at the trade deadline, acquiring D'Angelo Russell from Golden State for Andrew Wiggins. And while Russell did not play, the changes may have motivated the rest of the team to snap a 13-game skid with a 142-115 trouncing of the LA Clippers on Saturday. The TCU Horned Frogs (13-10) are also mired in a bad stretch as Jamie Dixon's team has dropped seven of its last eight games.
