The Buckeyes (14-7) and Wolverines (13-8) combined for only four wins to start the new year, but showed signs of improvement as the calendar flipped to February. Ohio State overcame the absence of point guard D.J. Carton to beat Indiana, 68-59, on Saturday, while Michigan upset Rutgers on the road, 69-63. If the Buffalo Sabres are going to have any shot at making the NHL postseason, they are going to need to take advantage of the current portion of their schedule where they play nine of their 10 games at home. Buffalo (23-22-7) took a step in the right direction on Saturday when Jack Eichel scored 36 seconds into OT to beat Columbus, 2-1. The Sabres will try to make it two straight tonight as they host the Colorado Avalanche (28-16-6), who opened a five-game road trip with a 6-3 setback in Philadelphia on Saturday.
