Tonight's Atlanta Hawks-Dallas Mavericks game was supposed to also be a matchup of two of the league's rising stars in Trae Young and Luka Doncic. But only Young will be taking the court after Doncic twisted his ankle in practice earlier this week and is expected to miss at least the next six games. Without their young star last night, the Mavericks (29-19) fell short in Houston, 128-121. They'll return home tonight to see if they can corral Young and the Hawks (13-36), who knocked off Philadelphia on Thursday, 127-117, behind Young's 39 points. The Kansas Jayhawks (17-3) also find themselves shorthanded after last week's brawl with Kansas State resulted in suspensions for key reserves Silvio De Sousa (12 games) and David McCormack (2 games). McCormack is slated to return for today's contest against Texas Tech (13-7), which is coming off a big 89-81 win over West Virginia as the Red Raiders shot 54.3 percent from the field, including 11-of-17 from beyond the arc. The Vegas Golden Knights (26-20-7) were forced to play last night without goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, who was serving a one-game suspension for skipping the All-Star game. But the Knights rallied to beat Carolina, 4-3, as Paul Statsny collected a goal and an assist for the third time in the last four games. Vegas is expected to have Fleury back in net tonight as they continue their road trip against the Nashville Predators (24-19-7). Face off is 8:00 p.m. EST at Bridgestone Arena.
