Intensity has never been lacking in contests between NFC North rivals Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, but it will be a different sort of intensity tonight -- let's call it desperation -- as both teams come in with 0-3 records. For the Bengals and new coach Zac Taylor, the struggles are not that surprising, although the fact that they have not been able to get running back Joe Mixon going after a 1,168-yard campaign last year is noticeable. The bigger surprise has been the Steelers, who were expected to challenge for the AFC crown this year. But Ben Roethlisberger's season-ending elbow injury threw a wrench in that expectation. The MLB postseason gets started on Tuesday night with the NL Wild Card between the Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers. The Nationals (93-69, No. 8 in the Dunkel Index) finished four games ahead of the Brewers (89-73; No. 11 in the Dunkel Index) to secure the home field for the one-game winner-take-all matchup. Week 5 in college football saw Clemson narrowly escape a major upset by hanging on to a 21-20 win over North Carolina after the Tar Heels failed on a two-point conversion in the last minute. It didn't cause the Tigers to lose their top ranking in the latest Dunkel College Football Index, though. In fact, the tighter race is between Nos. 2 and 3 where Ohio State has closed the gap with Alabama considerably with its strong start, the latest coming in a 48-7 domination of Nebraska on the road. The WNBA Finals got started yesterday with league MVP Elena Delle Donne (team-high 22 points) leading the Washington Mystics to a 95-86 win over the Connecticut Sun.
