While we're still a few weeks away from the start of the MLB playoffs, the upcoming series between the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals will have all the feel of a postseason matchup. The Cards (83-66) sit in first place in the NL Central but are just two games up on the Chicago Cubs. Likewise, the Nats (82-66) have the Cubs breathing down their necks in the NL wild-card chase with just a 1 1/2-game lead. Tonight's series opener in St. Louis will feature Stephen Strasburg (17-6, 3.49) on the mound for Washington, while Dakota Hudson (15-7, 3.38) gets the start for the Cardinals.
