It's hard to top a 21-1 barrage in baseball, but the Houston Astros found a way in their encore last night against the Oakland A's. A day after beating the Mariners by 20, the Astros pounded the A's, 15-0, that included an MLB-record six home runs in the first two innings. The 36 runs combined to set a franchise record and helped Houston to its fifth straight victory. The Astros will try to keep the hot streak going tonight as they continue their series against Oakland at Minute Maid Park. No Gronk, no problem is the sense in New England after the Patriots dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 30-3, to highlight Week 1 in the NFL. Not surprisingly, the Patriots start the season rated No. 1 in the first Dunkel NFL rankings of the season. A bit more surprising are Nos. 2 and 3 with the Ravens and Titans in those spots following lopsided road wins over the Dolphins and Browns, respectively. Week 2 of the college football season is in the books with Clemson and Alabama continuing to hold on to the top two spots after beating Texas A&M and New Mexico State, respectively. And the WNBA wrapped up its regular season yesterday with the Washington Mystics the clear favorite to win their first championship as the playoffs are set to begin on Wednesday. The Mystics have a sizable lead over No. 2 Connecticut, while Los Angeles slipped past Las Vegas for the top spot among the Western Conference teams.
