The last game of Week 1 in college football takes place tonight as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish head to Louisville to face the Cardinals. Notre Dame is looking to bounce back from last year's humbling 30-3 loss to Clemson in the national semifinal. Brian Kelly's team will once again be led at QB by Ian Book, who completed over 70 percent of his passes and threw 19 TDs after taking over the job from starter Brandon Wimbush, who has since transferred to UCF. For the Cardinals, 2019 can only be an improvement for a program that hit rock bottom last year and fired head coach Bobby Petrino. In steps Scott Satterfield, who went 47-16 in his six previous seasons as Appalachian State's head coach. The MLB schedule is loaded up with Labor Day matinees starting to 1:05 EST when the Washington Nationals (77-58) host the NY Mets (69-67). While catching the Braves in the NL East remains an outside shot for the Nats, they are in the driver's seat for a wild card with a 4 1/2-game lead over the Cubs for the top spot. The Mets are trying to claw their way into the wild card picture, but hurt themselves with last night's loss to the Phillies and are four games back of the Cubs with three teams ahead of them. And the NFL celebrates its 100th season with a matchup of two original franchises as the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears meet for the 199th time on Thursday night at Soldier Field.
