Last year was a disappointment for Michigan State as the Spartans dropped three of their last four to finish at 7-6. Offensive futility was a big part of the problem. The Spartans scored only 32 points combined over the last four games, including just six in a 7-6 loss to Oregon in the Redbox Bowl to close out the season. But the good news for Mark Dantonio's team is that the defense was as stout as ever and returns linchpins like Kenny Willekes and Raequan Williams to this year's squad. If returning QB Brian Lewerke can muster some more offense, the Spartans should enjoy a better 2019 campaign. The Arizona Diamondbacks opened up their series with the Dodgers last night by lighting up LA pitching for 11 runs and 16 hits in an 11-5 victory. The win was the fourth straight for the D-backs (68-66) and kept them in the thick of the NL wild-card race.
